Spinks was paid over TEN TIMES as much as Judah and they fought in Spinks' home town. Judah was taken advantage of and this in part drove him to the knockout victory. YAY for Judah and Spinks stinks and got what he deserved!
This is a good point.
Spinks could have sold out the Savvis Center against a lesser opponent, but likely would have been an undercard attraction on a nationally televised boxing event.
The St. Louis crowd didn't care who Spinks was fighting, but since Cory isn't as exciting a fighter, it took a Judah to make this the main event of the evening.
Remember against Miguel Angel Gonzalez, the undisputed welterweight champion of the world OPENED UP for Kali Meehan vs. Lamon Brewster.
Judah assured the America's Fight Night slot.
But nothing other than Spinks appearing was particularly noteworthy; not to the extent that any other bout would have sold tickets on their own, other than to diehard boxing fans excited to have an event in St. Louis for the first time in 40 years.
Exactly! For the fans of St.Louis that fight was a VERY big deal indeed. ;)
I've said it before, and excuse me to the spinks fans but I think Cory needs to put some energy into his boxing style....

I think Spinx got around $1.2 million whereas Judah got around $100,000. Even though Spinx was the champ, I think you would agree that this disparity is ridiculous. Also keep in mind that it's likely that Judah draws a bigger audience than Spinx.
In Spinks home town I'd say he was the draw and besides that, if and when the rubber match takes place you can bet that Judah will make just as much money while Spinks makes much less. How many times did Jones totally outprice his opponet by mil's? Too many to mention, but nobody minded that at the time...and I could go on and on about Oscar DLH too in that regard. I think that Judah should have made more..much more, but I dont blame Spinks, or celebrate the ko cause he didnt make more.

WHAT, there was about 20 people there to see Judah in St. Louis, Spinks would have sold that place out fighting me.

That is a rediculous disparity. The ruling bodies need to make some kind of a regulation that specifies a champ can take 2/3 of a purse or something like that. NOT 9/10. If Judah had gotten hurt and his carrer had ended, he should get more than 10 percent.
Of course he got paid much more..he was the champ with all the belts, and was good enough to give Judah a rematch. Next time Judah will be the one with the belts on the line and can make all the demands; are we supposed to hate him when he does just that?? Thats what all champs do, and that is just one of the many benefits while being champ and I've yet to see one champ not take advantage of his status

i finally got to see the 9th round of the fight and it looks as if when Judah threw the punch Spinks had his hands down, also when Spinks got up he didn't look to anxious to continue fighting. I don't know wether it was disapointment or he just didn't want to continue. I didn't get to see the entrance but based on the pay each man got i'm glad Judah knocked him out.
NOT A JUDAH FAN...but respect the man a lot for taking a crap pay to gain repect and better fights...i think spinks never thouhgt judah would except what he offered...BIG MISTAKE..judah left him seeing birds around his head... :D
Spinks doesn't want anymore of that. If he can't win in his hometown (who happened to be insanely loud that night), I don't think he stands a chance against Judah in New York.
The 3rd fight will be in New York and Judah will get paid 10x more than Spinks.
but yes...yes he did deserve to get KO'ed for that god awful Prince Hamed act he pulled.
I don't think theres going to be third fight anytime soon, I heard that Spinks is moving to 154.

Shit, i still havent seen the fight :(
Ive never rooted for Judah in my life but my hate for Spinks made me root like hell for Zab...Spinks might be the easiest opponent a guy could ever fight to become the undisputed champ.
He got real fortunate against Mayorga, real fortunate against Judah in the first fight and I thought he looked like shit against a shot fighter in MA Gonzalez...your right...he got what was coming to him and it will be a long while before we see a guy like Judah beat such a horrible guy to become undisputed champion, Zoo would have beat Spinks within a few rounds easy, but congrats too Zab I thought he looked great-but again he fought a pussy.
