Hopkins starting to fade and being real about it

Ive been the only one saying that he is fading but if you guys cant see it then theres something wrong with you. He wont KO Eastman and it might even be an upset. He wont KO any top fighter again. He only did it to Oscar because he belongs at 147. Im not criticizing him but it's the truth. I love X but he doesnt have many more left in him The cool thing is that you guys might not know it be he does his ownself and I love him for being real about it. Did you hear his interview during the Gatti fight. X has never spoke like that before. He said that at 40 anybody can give him a hard time. I dont think he has been impressed with his last few fights and he knows he cant do the same things he used to. People thought he looked great against Joppy but I thought he looked like shit. Joppy was just washed up. The Hopkins that fought Keith Holmes and Tito wouldve KO Joppy and destroyed Oscar. Oscar was actually doing pretty good in that fight. Im not criticizing him. He is just getting older like everyone has to and I hope he doesnt ruin his legacy. He should retire soon because I know whats going to happened if he doesnt. He will fight someone like Tito again and get KO and everyone will diminish what he accomplished like they did with Roy. Then he might even try to rematch him and get KO even worse and it will really destroy his legacy. Tito hasnt gotten better, X has just gotten older

I'm not as sure of that as you are. Even if Toney can still do well on the inside for a long 12 rounds, it's not going to help him if the refs let Ruiz cheat and smother him to death. All I'm saying is, given their styles, I would not be surprised at all if Ruiz won. Toney and Hopkins are both so good at going the distance because they are so relaxed in the ring. When you can fight at a slow pace or at least keep your muscles relaxed, your heart doesn't beat as fast, giving you a lot more energy down the stretch. That being said both these guys would be very vunerable to a quick fighter who made them run around from the start to the end, even if he wasn't a great fighter.

If I'm Hopkins, I definitely fight Taylor. Taylor looks to be the guy most likely to rule when Hopkins is gone so a win over him would be huge for Hopkins. It's like Lewis beating Vitali. Lewis retired, having beaten the guy that took over when he was gone. Well, Vitali will most likely take over. Anyway, if Hopkins loses, it's more of a passing of the torch kind of thing. If Hopkins loses now, it's because he's old.

Hopkins wants nothing to do with Taylor. You dont want to fight the youngest, strongest middleweight contender as your farewell party. Unless you want to secure your legend. Problem for BH is that legend could be getting dominated in his last fight. He doesnt want that. He knows he can beat eastman and tito. Toney KO's Ruiz then KO's Stormy Normy two seconds later for coming into the ring screaming like a crackhead about his fat, hugging puerto rican getting his ass handed to him. I believe he has already secured his legend. Fighting a prospect is not what an accomplished Champion wants to do for his final fight.

the only thing i can see after studying my collection is i believe his stamina is not where it once was. he has to pace himself alot more but this has been the case for a while now. his reflexes are still there, hes still got speed, his stamina is still GREAT just not GODLY like it used to be. the chin is still there, the skill is still there. lets not get ahead of ourselves here, hes no where near roy jones' state

i'm a big bhop fan but you have to accept he's not going to last forever, he is 40 after all. having said that he'll beat eastman easily (and i'm english) and if he fights tito again his ringcraft and experience will win over the rather one-dimensional trinidad.

He's always talked shit and nearly always backed it up but now he's in with the big boys it's be interesting to see what happens, just think if he does chin all the best fighters, he'll hav a fuckin field day, it'l be 'quote aplenty' I think he'll back it up to be honest. The only thing i need to see to convince me is how he handles a prime heavyweight punch. He has the speed and skills to beat any top heavyweight at the moment. Ruiz maybe his first victim and i cannot wait. :D

wez did u see toneys interview in last weeks boxing news, he's fuckin shocking, a right ignorant, prejudice, knob head....................................................................god bless him ;) No i missed last weeks. :mad: Shit, i bet that was entertaining. He does say some shocking things but he does amazing things for the sport in my opinion. Boxing needs character and fans love someone who's different. Another thing about him too is that nobody knows 100% whether he can back up what he's saying so it leaves the unpredictability factor there too.

I think if Taylor beats Eduoard decisively and then goes ahead and beats another nice middleweight...then he'd give Hop the most trouble. He has a lot of weapons and is physically bigger and stronger than is Tito. He'd be very dangerous for Hop. By the way great avatar wez. Toney seems to be in good fashion there. :D :D I agree that Taylor would probably be the toughest with more experience. Like you say he is bigger and naturally stronger. Toney is a unbelievable fighter and great for boxing in my opinion. The avatar took some finding but i finally got one i'm happy with. :D
