This fight would have been more interesting if it happened a few years earlier. Despite the fact that he lost to Leija, I think Panchito Bojado would have been a much better opponent for Gatti.
If this Gatti shows up, it's going to be an even longer night for PBF. PBF took 8 rounds to put away a bum at 140. That doesn't say much for him carrying his power up with him.
If it stays an outside fight, PBF wins easily, but still takes some punishment. If Gatti makes it an inside fight, PBF is gonna be sore for weeks.
I was kinda disappointed in this fight. I love that Gatti is able to prolong his career by turning into a boxer, rather like MAB did, but I think that he will wind up losing a large amount of his fanbase. Ya gotta dance with the girl that brung ya, yanno?
I expected Gatti to win, but I had expected (hoped?) for more out of Leija than we got.
not me. i have always like gatti. i like him even better now that he has become a boxer/puncher. you can still see that he has that brawler in him every once in a while. i enjoy strategical fights. i think that as long as gatti is winning and by way of ko his fanbase will only increase. true boxing fans would not abandon thier fighter because they improve thier style. if gatti beats pbf, which is very possible imo, his fanbase will definately grow. although i do feel pbf to be the faster and more likely winner.
Floyd has some impressive wins over slugger-type fighters, so this will be a tough call. He gave Manfredy a TKO in round two. He beat an undefeated Diego Corrales, due to Corrales corner throwing in the towel after seeing their fighter down five times. Floyd's last three fights, he's put the other fighter on the canvas in each bout. This Gatti bout will be a good one, but one that I won't be betting large coin on. If Gatti had Ouma's chin I would bet something, but since he doesn't, I'm not.
He has a shot of course but if he opens up and tries to through bombs on Floyd he better be ready to miss with most of his shots and take a whole lot of punches on the chin and gut.
exactly..PBF doesnt have the power to put gatti away and when gatti see's he cant win by boxing..in the late rounds he will flurry mayweather and go to war throwing bombs...does gatti have a shot, hell yeah
If the Gatti that comes to box shows up Mayweather will have an easy night. As far as power I think Mayweather's punch is being underrated. He doesn't have big power but his shots hurt enough for his opponents to get discouraged. Power isn't everything either I think your forgetting that Mayweather has the best defense in the sport. Most of Gatti's shots will be picked off and if they land Floyd will be able to take them better than most people think.Have you ever seen Gatti discouraged, though? The first Ward fight was an all out war, and Ward was hurting Gatti, but Gatti continued to come forward.
Floyd doesn't have the same kind of relentlessness that Ward has, and Gatti has. His heart has yet to be tested since he's cruised his way to most of his wins with overwhelming talent. The thing is, he's going to be hit harder than he ever has been in his career. We will finally get to see if he has the heart to go with his skills.
I think Gatti's chances are slim in this fight, but I won't say it's a slamdunk for PBF. Gatti is a warrior in the truest sense of the word.

He could have put him away earlire no doubt he will let his hands go from the outside against Gatti. He cuts easily and once that happens he is gonna charge Floyd and get hit even more. He has to hit Floyd with a huge shot and cut off the ring. I just dont see it happening even if he has Floyd hurt, Floyd will run away until the round is over.
Gatti looked pretty sharp but he wont out box PBF thats for sure. Its gonna be a long night for Gatti. :D

I wouldn't say he doesn't have the heart of a champion because he has shown in the past that he does. I would say that his heart isn't really into anymore and he needs to retire.
i totally agree, at 38 leija is a shot fighter and no way near where he was 5-10 years ago. it was an essy fight for gatti. you know by 2nd round that leija was not going to hurt arturo. good boxing skills from arturo tho. he won this fight by his excellent jabs. those jobs set the ko that finished leija in the fifth.
i hope gatti gets to fight mayweather this year. i'm very interested to see this fight between a the quick and excellent boxer in maywather and the reinvented boxer/puncher in gatti. i think gatti has a good chance of beating mayweather tho. this fight is gonna be a close one.
I knew what happened would happen. Leija doesn't the heart of a champion. I mean seriously, I got that after he fought Kostya. He out working Kostya in their fight and then in the 6th when he figured he put on a good show and could quit on a good note, he says he has a blown ear drum? He was smiling and happy right after they called off the fight and even in the interview he said, yeah you all saw how good I am, that I can hold my own against a very good fighter, I proved myself. That's like saying, look what I can do until I'm spent, now let's quit. Against Gatti I knew he wouldn't get up when he could. I thought he was gonna stay down on 1st knockdown. I give him credit for getting up their though on the 2nd one he was nearly already standing though didn't want to get back up. What would he have done if he won? Give up the belt also?

I knew after the 3rd round Leija didn't want to really continue. I thought Leija would throw more combinations but he only threw one punch at a time. I also thought it would be Gatti who would mess up the plans by losing tonight but Mayweather's dumbass might mess them up. If it goes down I still say Mayweather by decision.
Gatti took Leija out very well, but Mayweather is still going to eat him alive. :(

i bet the right way i said gatti before 6...anyway i love boxing gatti..its so weird to think this is the same brawler as before (if they couls only do this with mayorga :( ) anyway mayweather is probably next...and i know may will probably win but my heart still saids gatti and i think mayweather will get caught and it will be to much power for his chin(or body) to handle..hopefully haha(he shuts mayweather up)
