Am i the only one who thinks Gatti is overated? why is he making headlines all of a sudden??? He had wars but agaist who?? Ward??? ward struggles to beat Agustus.
Gatti puts asses in the seats, as simple as that. His fighting style brings the fans and his come from the brink wins are legendary. That's why he gets all the press.
I dont know if all that putting fans in the seat shit is true. Everyone always says that but he always fights in AC which is his hometown. I dont even know that last time he didnt fight in AC. If he fought out west or down south would he still pack the house?

dam right hes overrated...dont be so sure hell be leija either...the de la hoya vs gatti fight was awful..that looked like somebody fighting their little brother
People bring up the DLH fight but that was bullshit. Gatti was a lightweight for most of his career. He was at 140 for just 3 fights and he had to fight at 147 for the first time in his life against a prime DLH who was undefeated and near the top of the #4# list at the time. Gatti did alright in that fight, he just couldnt hurt Oscar because he was so big ang Gatti wasnt used to the weight. It was like the Cotto and Sosa fight. Sosa was doing good but he just wasnt big enough. He couldnt hurt Cotto and he couldnt take Cotto's punches like he did everyone else. Same for Gatti in that fight

i don't think people overrate him, they think of him just right. A nice fighter who brings excitement and heart to the ring when in this era its not very common. I never read many saying he is great. The terms heart, determination and warrior come up, but never "great" or "p4p".
exactly, he's a b level fighter, well B+ I guess. But he is a warrior no matter what anyone says, and he is making the most of his skills. I see him beating Leija, then he will likely get a nice fat paycheck to be pummeled into retirement by PBF.
Either that or he'll fight for money from then on..
I think he is overrated in terms of skill, but I wouldn't want the boxing world to be without him. He brings fans..

its all about heart. we all want to see someone who fought wars in the ring, not even for a title, to accomplish something. we also want to see a long time contender succeed in the end (ie glen johnson).
