When Boxingtalk caught up with junior lightweight emperor Marco Antonio Barrera, he told us that he would be sitting down with his people over at Golden Boy Promotions this week to decide his next move. After speaking with Golden Boy’s head honcho Richard Schaefer, he informed Boxingtalk that plans were being made for the Baby-Faced Assassin to return to the ring on April 9th. He did not want to comment on whom Barrera would be facing, since it could effect the outcome at the bargaining table, but Schaefer did inform us that he would be traveling to Mexico City soon to finalize plans for one of boxing’s most exciting fighters who is coming off his 2004 “Fight of the Year” victory over Erik Morales. Boxingtalk.com understands that Barrera-TBA will take place on HBO PPV. Fights under consideration for the undercard are Daniel Ponce De Leon challenging for the IBF 122 Israel Vazquez, who signed with Sycuan Ringside Promotions after winning his championship under Golden Boy's banner. If Oscar Larios handles Wayne McCullough on February 10 without suffering a cut or injury, boxing fans may be in for a real treat since we also understand that Larios-Joan Guzman, would likely take place as the televised chief support. Chances are Mexican Olympian Abner Mares would get the festivities started.

This is going to be a great card. I think Barrera will take on Marquez at 130. The Guzman-Larios fight will be an amazing fight, but I see Guzman knocking out Chololo in the 7th. And the other exciting fight between Ponce De Leon and Vazquez will be good, with Vazquez outpointing the cruder fighter.
Why is it that Mexican fighters have off nights and other fighters just get knocked the fuck out.
Why is it that Phillipino fighters wear bad socks while others just get outboxed.

phillipines have bwoken hands
and are starved and lose at the scales
o
and the most important excus..e
i mean
reason
Cheap Socks!!
lmao
good KO
but its that type of stuff that convinces me he doesnt have one punch power
he can only get it done by an accumilation
and even then
he cant close the show
but still strong ass straight left

A million-dollar question! Yeah, why indeed?
I will base MAB's "off-night" on the EM/Pac fight. If it is close than I will give MAB the benifit of the doubt and say he has a chance in rematch. But as of now, I would rather see a PAC/JMM 2.

should be a big break for harrison much like pacquiao if he beats MAB, that way MAB can be the greatest manager since he's putting relatively unknown fighters to stardome...
Yeah. And if Harrison does beat him, that would be really, really tough luck for MAB, as his market value will depreciate considerably.
If Prince Naz is coming back, then I suggest we have a MAB-Naz II. I think it will generate a lot more interest than a MAB-JMM!
Yeah, at this time, Barrera needs to build up his credibility again. He needs to fight other fighters. And then after two years from Barrera Vs. Pacquiao I, he can fight him(Pacquiao) again for his revenge. :)
If Marquez is stepping up, that would make him the challenger, therefore he has no "porque es el que consigue mas dinero? Soy el champ." excuse.
But ask yourself; is Barrera verses anyone else beside Morales, Pacquiao, or even Marquez, a PPV material? Unless they pull a few decent undercards.
Barrera-Marquez - SD in favor of Barrera.
if ponce de leon and larios/guzman are on the undercard it would be a good show. i don't think mab/jmm will be the tear up pac/morales will be. both are good counter punchers, neither of whom will want to come forward throwing bombs. it'll be a good, technical fight along the lines of mab/morales 2.
Barrera needs to do whatever he has to do fast..time is passing and he is not getting any younger..fight who ever comes his way, and get a rematch with pacqiao somehow.. Marquez would be a good fight..Ayala is done i dont think that would do much for him, and Ayala might not be interested either..
I think so too:D...after being KD'd twice by body shots from Barrera;)...but strange things happens in boxing, he might get out of retirement.:)

guzman/larios....holy crap..goodtimes..goodtimes

i think mab can UD or even ko JMM...i think mab will do way better in th epac rematch may even pull out a upset
the MAB the beat Morales in their last get together will give Pacquiao a run for his money. MAB should fight Pacquiao b4 the year is over, he fought jr jones twice.
I maybe wrong but I think Morales KO jr jones in 4
i think pac-mab 2 would be in order sometime in fall this year assuming they win both of their fights. i would think it is gonna be a ppv event. i still give the rematch to pac because the way he manhandled mab. mab's excuses would have made sense if the fight was close, but it wasn't. pac is mab's waterloo and it's going to stay that way.
If Pacquiao get through a war with Morales convincingly, and Barrera do the same with Marquez (if it happens), then Pacquiao-Barrera II is a nice way to close 2005. A nice gift from the fat old man.
BTW, Ayala is done for, IMO.
ofcourse hes done
hes retired
Only JMM makes sense for a PPV fight against Barrera imo. Barrera's been on some one-sided beatings that werent exciting at all i really dont think he has the drawing power to sell PPV card without another big name.
