Vargas has a height and reach advantage over Ike but i agree with the opinion that Ike was not really prepared to fight when they met in 2000!
He had had 14 months inactivity and was coming off a grueling war with Oscar with no tune up. Lets see Ike have 5 fights into his come back. I think by this time Hopkins would have retired or left the weight division. This would vacate all those title belts at middleweight and if Vargas can notch a few wins then who knows, Vargas Vs Quartey II for a title, might be worth watching!
I'd like to see this fight happen once again. Ike has perhaps the best jabs in his weight division, but he tends to slap his right hand. Classic wars with both de la Hoya and Vargas.
Bring on this rematch.
Quartey vs Vargas
This is definately one of my favorite fights of all time. After seeing this post, I actually sat down and threw on the dvd to watch the 6th and 7th rounds over again. Those rounds were classics.
I would like to see these 2 meet again. They are both returning as middlewieghts, why not?
Yeah that fight was good but Ike had serious ring rust. That fight showed me that if Ike focused, he was a dangerous opponent for anyone 154 & below. The inactivity/loss of hunger after the De La Hoya fight really hurt him.

In all fairness Ike was really rusty for that fight and he was slapping with his punches a lot.
