I hate to quote something from another site but maxboxing had it right. It is a real shame and a damn crime that HBO would only be willing to shell out less than 1.7 million for a Marquez Pacquiao fight when they are willing to pay Mayweather alone, over 2 million to fight bruseles. Mayweather who hasnt really attracted a crowd in years. In his last fight he couldnt even fill the little stadium it was an irony that it happened to be one of his most exciting fights to date. And of course he got paid like 3 million. For Marquez vs Pacquiao one thing is a for sure thing, the arena was going to sell out, and more people would have tuned in then are gonna tune for Mayweather against someone no knows. yeah he proved that by not taking the fight with jmm for what he was offered. instead he is gonna take the fight with em. if you think its not about the money to him then you are seriously dillusional. if it weren't about the money and it was about the glory he would take the jmm fight no matter what the monetary prize was. but this is the real world and money matters to everyone. i don't blame manny for wanting more money thats for sure. man Pac signed the contract against JMM! there's no way he counld turn back from that. True that Juan has the belts, but Manny is the one people want to see. I mean, at least Manny has fought MAB. Who has JMM fought? Lets face it, Juan ain't the most exciting boxer out there. So for him(Beristain)to ask that much money is just big headed. Sure he was able to salvage a draw with Pac but, that's after he got eaten up in the first round. I am crossing my fingers too buddy, i really want to see PAC-JMM 2 first and foremost than any other fight, unsettled business should be finished first ... i dont know but it seems like JMM is not interested in settling the unfinished business. he knows he was just lucky to have that draw. that's exactly why he's askin' for too much purse.

I guess he deserve more than what's on the table. But over half a million more than Pacquiao? Probably not. Remember that Pacquiao is probably the main attraction. And after all, this is boxing. Belts sometimes don't mean a lot in terms of money. I think there is some jealousy going on how Pacquiao and Barrera are getting more attention.
