This year will be great as long as alot of injuries dont happen which puts fights off til later! I just printed a new schedule out yesterday, and according to it the next 2 mo's are gonna be smokin!! :D I dont know which ones I'm most excited about(after the Gatti fight anyway) ..naturally I want to see Gatti the most, but there is also...Juan Diaz-Billy Irwin, Mayweather-Bruseles (ok, who the hell is he?? ), Kassim Ouma-Kofi Jantuah, both Oscar and David Diaz on Showtime..the rematch between Spinks and Judah, and a cruiser wt. fight that I really, really wanna see with Kelvin Davis-Oneil Bell, Kermit Cintron, and of course Jose Luis Castillo-Diego Corrales! But, to go with the good, I think I smell Don King at work, cause the very night that B-Hop is fighting, Wayne Braithwaite-Jean-Marc Mormeck and Monte Barrett-Owen Beck is gonna be on PPV!! Say what?!? Can any of you imagine paying ppv to see Barrett? I dont think so (not me anyway!!) :rolleyes
2 years later
Definatly a great year for boxing because there is so much opportunity for amazing fights. Castillo-Corrales is going to be amazing for one thing .
I cant wait for Corrales vs Castillo. Im gonna be torn that night. I cant stand to see either of them lose.
2 years later. Yup and little would you guy's expect, It thappened to be one of the greatest fights of all time. lol
Some other good fights:
According to Boxrec.com
Oscar Larios VS. Wayne McCullough February 10.
We get to see Paul Briggs on HBO on March 12.
Mike Anchondo VS. Jorge Barrios April 2.
For some reason those werent on my schedule (from MaxBoxing) But, I've heard repeatedly that boxingrec isnt very reliable..I just dont know if that applies to their schedule, or just boxing new in general

I can't wait for this year to get started, I agree it will be an exciting year of championship boxing.
Me either...I'm just waiting on some of them to fall through :( the way they often do!
2004 was surely a great year for boxing. We saw some excellent fights in the lower divisions The action-packed Barrera-Morales part 3, the thriller fight between Pacman and Marquez were the top candidates for the Fight of the Year award. We also saw the top featherweights Pacman an and Marquez won their tune-up bouts against Fahsan 3K-Battery and Orlando Salido respectively. We also witnessed Barrera's comeback win against the aging Paulie Ayala and Injin Chi's beating of Michael Brodie.
We also saw some big names reduced to pupls this year. Who can forget Shane Mosley's two losses to Winky Wright this year and the two devastating ko of Roy Jones by Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson.
Other notable fights of the year were Vitali's winsagainst Corie Sanders and Danny Williams. Of course there was Tito Trinidad's comeback against Mayorga and Kostya Tsyzu's cementing of his P4P status against Sharmba Mitchell. There were Mayweather's victory over DeMarcus Corley and Oscar Dela Hoya's controversial win against Felix Sturm.
There was the megabuck fight Bernard Hopkins (won) vs DelaHoya, also the battle between Roy Jones' conquerors Tarver and Glen Johnson (won), and Monty Barrett's win over Guinn.
This year a few rising stars also made waves in Miguel Cotto's back to back victory over Lovemore N'Dou and so were Jermain Taylor's victories over Alex Bunema and William Joppy. We also saw Brian Villoria and Ysrael Vazquez winning at least two of their fights this year.
heel yeah tito rematch with hopkins (in which it looks like tito will be ko'ed even earlier)
mayorga and vargas return at same weight class...dlh and mosely back down to welter and KT might be coming up..gatti will fight either floyd or KT...great great year...
tyson is coming back..VK will continue to prove people wrong but most of all castillo vs corrales is not far away..good times goos times...
Vitali has expressed how has wont let this 05 year end without ko;ing toney which was great lol..i wanna see that fight

bs
witter told floyd he would fight him and witter said he knows he not a big name..but that he would be after he beats him
and floyd went fot this num instead
i have prefered witter
Junior Witter hahahahha
Witter had his shot against Judah to prove his worth and put on a performance that would have hade Modar Hakkar proud.

Bruseles is fighting Floyd not Hopkins.
The reason this fight is happening is because Floyd really doesn't have an opponent out there.
Top Rank's plan was to get him in position to fight Gatti. He fought Corley to be the #1 contender then when he became the #1 contender Gatti's people got cold feet and didn't want the fight all of a sudden leaving Floyd out in the cold.
I agree there are better guys to fight, but given Floyd's past history of taking the tough fights I'll give him a pass on this one.
Oops...laugh with me instead of at me :D
Well that makes sense..if Gatti did pull out then I guess that doesnt really leave a long list of other potentials..too bad
What a joke! I find it hard to believe that there isnt atleast ONE decent middle wt. out there that would like a shot at Nard's belts! Is he the problem, you think? Negotiating himself out of deals again or something?

Bruseles is a journeyman at best. He's been on spanish TV a few times. He hasn't done anything or beaten anyone worth mentioning.

I was a little disappointed about hearing who Floyd was fighting as i had high expectations for him to fight Gatti or Tszyu.
I think Holyfield will fight one more time and then call it a day. I get this awful feeling that he thinks he has one fight left in him
Thats the thing exactly! part of me wants him to win just ONE more, hoping that he will then retire..but, knowing him, that would just convince him that he still "has it", and he'd never quit! And the other part of me wonders if he'll try to keep fighting til he does finally win!! I hate what he's doing to himself and his image (in some peoples eyes, anyway) and wish like hell he'd just sit back and enjoy the many kids he's made..watch them grow, etc. instead of chasing this dream! :(
I'm hoping that with New York refusing to let him fight that soon others will follow..but the only thing wrong with that theory is nobody would let Tyson fight in their state either after all the controversy, but good ole Tenn. sure did..so if somebody let him fight despite all the bad press, etc, then most likely Evander will find some place to do it too!
Not flattering you, but if YOU'VE not heard of him, then he's a nobody! Has to be ;) And I do agree about Holyfield...as much as I love him, I love him enough to want him to quit NOW!!!

Definatly a great year for boxing because there is so much opportunity for amazing fights. Castillo-Corrales is going to be amazing for one thing. JMM-Pacam will be good. Winky-Tito is another great fight i am looking forward to but i must admit that i would really love to see Toney-Vitali get it on once and for all. Tszyu-Hatton will be good if it happens. Never heard of Mayweathers opponent myself but he sounds like a bum. j/k
The best news to read would be that Holyfield had retired.
Not flattering you, but if YOU'VE not heard of him, then he's a nobody! Has to be ;) Maybe Barryboy or Marvdave know of him (the other 2 boxing scene "smarties" :D) And I do agree about Holyfield...as much as I love him, I love him enough to want him to quit NOW!!!

Oh I can stand to see Corrales lose, and i'd like to remember the actual fight while I'm at it :p , so add that to my kid watching it with me and you've got "getting torn" as a 'no option'! How on earth did I make that post without mentioning the possible rematch between Manny and JMM??? Those 2 better get back in the ring, or I'll hunt them down and kick BOTH their asses!! :D
