Lewis could not take a punch at all, mccall who at that time had 17KO's in 34 fights, knocked him out like it was nothing. Also he couldn't take anyones right hands. Rahman... knocked out. McCall... knocked out. most recently Vitali Klitshcko... so lucky he didn't get knocked out. Plus i heard against micheal moorer i think that early in his career, he fough him and won a UD10, which i heard was controversial (if anyone wants to put that up that wud be nice!). He never gave anyone a rematch, even when they gave him a rematch. Mcall gave him a rematch, Rahman did, Even Holyfield did (Mind you that sum were mandatory mayb). But didnt rahman deserve a rubber match, or mcall.
this is a summary as to why i think Lennox Lewis is not one of the greatest HW of all time. He ducked Ruiz, Byrd (gave up IBF and WBA so he woudn't have to fight them), Bowe, and if he fought a prime Mike Tyson, and not a Tyson who was only a threat from rounds 1-2, he wouldve been in the hospital right now.
Lewis wasn`t a Pro when a Tyson was in his prime, its the same as saying if Muhammad Ali in his prime had fought Larry Holmes then Holmes would be beaten. Different eras, end of the day Tyson`s career since he left prison has lasted longer than his prime so in all fairness he should be ultimately judged on the post prison performances. And Post prison, Tyson isn`t in the class of Holyfield or Lewis. And even in his prime he didn`t beat any fighters approaching their class so in history Tyson is a good heavyweight but nothing special!

omg u must have read my mind
For me lewis was a bit chinny it's just that he hardly ever got clocked square on, and also focus was a big thing for him, when he fought respected punchers, Tua, Tyson holy to a degree he was consistently alert and aware of the danger in front of him, when he got ko'd by rock he was pissing about and paid for it, the McCall thing for me is another matter, i think he could of gone on but McCall would have finished him, when lewis has been hurt his recouperation powers are weak, hence been out cold vs rock and very hurt against a non puncher in mccall. Vs Mercer i had Mercer up a point, he was very underated when he was up for it, just a shame he wasn't up for it that many times :). Maybe he could of given Rahman a rubber match but i think he would of won again but it would of been harder for him. When lewis has been over confident or he's believed the press he's struggled to impress eg vs Bruno, briggs, mercer mccall 1, rahman 1, holy 2, but when he's been shitting it and he's only a slight favourite or the underdog then he's put in classy displays - tua, tyson, holy 1, ruddock.
I actually think bowe would of beat lewis circa 92-95, but bowe must of been still haunted by 88 cos he did drop the belt to avoid lewis after the ruddock eliminator, shame too cos that would of been a great match up.
This is coming from a non lewis fan too, before any one says i'm on the canadians balls
Lewis's chin isn't glass but its in comparison to other HW champs its surely not great. Yes he did take good shots from Mercer, Bruno, and Briggs but all 3 had him hurt and wobbled. They just didn't have the stamina/skills to follow it through.
ahhhh man! everyone hates me now. lol... sorry i meant ray mercer.
jose i understand ur view about not giving rematches, but it took him 5 rounds to beat mccall, and mccall only 2. so yes he did beat him decisevly but shouldn't he at least offer him a rubber match? and i agree he would've beat both byrd and ruiz.. make no question about that. but he did give up the WBA instead of fighting him ( i cud swear i read that on fightnews.com), and he gave up the IBF for not fighting chris byrd. and ur rite it was bowe who didn't want to face him
6. How did Holyfield give Lewis a rematch? I think its the other way around kid considering Holyfield was outclassed badly in the first fight.
i totally agree, however he had two belts and i think he gave the rematch because because people said he should've lost and stuff.
another thing, im looking at Lewis's record at www.boxrec.com and it says when he beat ruddock "Shortly after this fight, Lewis was proclaimed the WBC Heavyweight Champion as Riddick Bowe refused to face him" , so he didn't actually win the championship, because the next fight was his defence?
i hope i didn't make any enemies here, i just wanted to kno ur opinion compared to mine

ridiculous
Lewis has made his mark, what i remember, he fought and beat back all the guys that beat him, I am not a Lewis fan but he is definetly one of the best heavy weight of all time, just not sure if he is in the top 10 or the top 15...
Looks like someone needs to go back and do a little boxing homework.
Couple things.
1. Lewis has a much better chin than people give him credit for. His problem was not his chin, but focus. He took big time shots from guys like Mercer and Vitali and didn't go down and I would say both of them hit harder than Rahman or McCall.
and can you explain why neither Rahman or McCall was able to even make him blink in the rematches?
Tommy Brooks described Lewis perfectly going into the Tyson fight. "If Lennox makes up his mind he aint going anywhere then he aint going anywhere"- Tommy Brooks when asked about Lewis' chin
2. Lennox Lewis never fought Micheal Moorer.
3. Lennox Lewis did not duck Bowe or Tyson its the other way around. Bowe pulled out of a contract he had signed and Tyson gave Lewis 5 million and gave up his WBC belt not to fight him.
4. Lennox Lewis did not duck Jon Ruiz. Ruiz wasn't even the mandatory when Lewis gave up that belt Henry Akiwande was. Lewis had already fought and beaten Akiwande. Akiwande was going to fight Evander Holyfield for the vacant WBA belt, but Akinwande got hepatitis and pulled out and Jon Ruiz entered and beat Holyfield for the belt and that how Ruiz came into the picture. Keep in mind Ruiz only claim to fame before Holyfield was being blown out in seconds by Tua.
5. NO Rahman and McCall did not deserve rubber matches. How on earth anyone can claim McCall deserved one is beyond me and the Rahman rematch was so brutal there was no need for one.
6. How did Holyfield give Lewis a rematch? I think its the other way around kid considering Holyfield was outclassed badly in the first fight.
7. Hmmm fight Chris Byrd or Mike Tyson?? oh what to do what do do. On one hand you have a fight the netire world wants to see and can pay you upwards of 25 million and on the other you have Chris Byrd a fight no one wants to see. Not exactly a hard choice.
Now if you could just do this for me in the Klitschko threads I wouldn't have to post here as much.

Im not a big Lewis fan but I think alot of your statements are false. He never faught Moore. I dont think you can say that he has a weak chin because of the McCall punch. He got hit flush while he was swinging. It's the same punch that Chop hit Floyd with. Alot of fighters get KO like that. He got up before the count and I thought it shouldnt have been stopped. He was fine a second after the 10 count. Anyone who saw the Rahman fight knows that he didnt care and he was clowning around and got caught. He didnt even train that hard and he was just messing around in the ring. There was no need for rubber matches because it was clear to everyone who the better fighter was. He got beat with one punch by Rock but he dominated him the second fight and KO him.
Everyone could see that McCall didnt deserve a rubber match. If you think that Byrd or Ruiz had a shot of beating him then your crazy. A prime Tyson may have been different but Tyson always had problems with bigger fighters and everyone knows that Bowe ducked Lewis
