I have been thinking about this for a while now. First let me start off letting all of you that didn't know that I am (or was) a serious RJJ nuthugger. He is losing heart and a fan.... But anyways....
Roy vs Lou Devalle. Roy's first knock down as a pro.
During the Byrd Mccline fight, Larry or Jim was talking to Roy about fighting friends. Roy mentioned that Devalle was his friend and was before going into the fight. (He was one of RJJs sparring partners.)
From what I remember of that fight, Roy didn't seem upset when he hit the canvas. He did not argue or dispute it. He didn't make any excuses either.
I didn't think it was a knockdown. Now knowing that they are friends, do you think it was legit knockdown? I would love to see a clip of that. We don't hear much from Devalle these days. But I really think Roy was doing his buddy a marketing favor.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
I seen it back when almost every website had boxing clips. It was a slip cause he loss his footing on his backfoot and fell forward...
It was a straight left..
I thought it was a slip, I need to see that fight again, actually, I wouldn't want to sit through that lackluster again, I want to see the knockdown again.
Hell no. It was part knockdown part slip. The punch just about landed, not great timing on it. Roy seen it coming at the last minute and slipped while getting out of the way as it landed softly.
