which decade u guys think was tha best for boxing
was it tha 1920's when jack dempsey was boxin
or tha 1930s where joe louis came into play
OR THA 1940's when sugar ray robinson started to make some excitement
or tha 50's where rocky marciano a heavyweight legend started boxing
or tha 1960's (i think) when there was ThaGreatest, smokin Joe, big foreman. Roberto Duran
1970's - Larry holmes, gerry cooney, michael spinks. Duran, marvelous marvin, sugar ray, tha hitman.
1980's- chavez tyson same welterweights as 70's
or the 90's or 2000
One thing to note. The best era for boxing, in my opinion, is the one with the most evenly matched fighters. That being said, those fighters within the competitive eras are not nessacarily the best boxers.Matches: '70's:
Arguello-Pryor
Arguello-WGomez
Zarate- La Porte
Little Red- Arguello
Little Red-Mancini
Azumah- etc.
Ali- Frazier 2 and 3
WGomez- La Porte
Mancini- and everyone he met ;) Sadly including In Dok Chu, who died a few hours after having been KO'd.
Harada-Jofre 1 and 2
The Duran fights, the Leonard fights, the Hearns fights, the Hagler fights, the Holmes fights, the MSpinks fights, Ali- Spinks (the elder),The fights featuring Saad-Quawi, Holyfield, etc., etc, etc, ;)
Matches?
Boxers competitive in an era may not be the best?
Sure. Sanchez vs.? Maybe, Saddler. Ok. But, who else? Zarate- La Porte? Zarate did not show enough? Harada? was not good enough? News: Most of those guys above are in Canastota.

Toss up between the 50's ( Marciano, Ezzard Charles, Arhie Moore, Ray Robinson, Jake Lamotta, Basilio ) and the 80's ( Leonard, Hearns, Duran, Hagler, Chavez, Etc..)

or the 90's or 2000I'll take the 70s (with carry over from late 60s and spill over to the early 80s) when the likes of Pryor, Arguello, WGomez, SSanchez, Mancini, A young Azumah Nelson, La Porte, Zarate, Pedroza, Kobayashi, Harada, WBenitez, Alfonso Zamora, Little Red, Saad Muhammad, Quawi, Cruiser Holyfield, etc., were giving the heavyweights (as well as Leonard and company), a run for the fans' admission money. :)
