I have been reading some reports that many close to Mosely are blaming his wife for his recent swan dive from any real comptetive level. His father, in fact, has hinted it. I kind of chalked it up to being a juice freak who was way too bulky to be fighting where he was. Any thoughts?
Mayorga tried to deny that in an interview, he claimed that what he actually said was "his hair is hard". He said that everytime Forrest rubbed against him, his hair was scratching him up.
Rick, I don't know about the interview thing, as I haven't seen one where he denies it, but I know what he said after the third round of their first fight and it was "that black guy hits hard," or, in spanish "ese negro da duro, hombre."
Sugar Shane's wife didn't ruin him, Vernon Forrest's head-butt basically ended Shane's career as a top-flight fighter. That last reply hit the nail on the head, Round 2 of Mosley-Forrest 1 was the beginning of the end for the Sugarman. Remember when Forrest head-butted Mayorga in their first fight? Mayorga went back to the corner and in his native language made a comment to the effect of "That n-----r's head is HARD!!!" This was coming from a guy in Mayorga who never admits to pain or fear. I'm glad Forrest has been on the shelf for nearly 2 years now, the sport is better without him, and I only wish that he hadn't ruined Mosley's career the way he did. - SacTown1
PS what's with the cats from Georgia and head-butts? Holyfield, Forrest, & even Sam Garr went head-first against James Page all night. I hate those punks!
Come on forrest is not a guy who uses head butt as a tactic, and his the 1st fight with mosley it was clearly accidental.
mosley didn't look hurt at all, but the big uppercut he ate 1 minute later did the damage .
IMO forrest was an excellent boxer and a classy guy too I wsh he comes back!
mosley's strenghs are is power and his speed. moving up in weight cancelled both of them out. the forrest fights were just a case of vernon having his number. he could'nt get past forrest's jab and you saw the same thing happen against wright. if he wants to keep fighting here's a tip. lay off the steroids and get in the gym a bit more and you may be able to make 147 again.
Wifey can talk herself to death but the fighting is done by Shane. Shane must blame himself.
Well stated. In the end, it's Mosley himself who is getting his rear end kicked.
Yea I remember when she did that shit on Boxingtalk. I was like damn Shane you gotta get your woman. She was talking serious smack to the posters and then didnt she say some shit to Vernon

His wife is nuts. I remember awhile back people were running Mosley down at Boxingtalk and his wife contacted them and complained she even joined the board and started talking shit to the posters.
yeh that was funny

nah i dont think it was his wife
i think it might have had soething to do with all the punches to the head that he was getting hit with
but thats just my thought

I also heard the Shanes wife can be a bitch but I dont think hewould allow her to ruin his career. I mean he is a pretty tough dude and I doubt he would let his women control him. Especially when it came to fighting. I think it just comes down to styles makes fights and Vernon and Wink just had his number.
That is not what Mayorga said. He said, "That black guy hits hard," not that his head is hard. I've watched the fight many times and he said it at the end of the 3rd round. I speak spanish so don't even try and argue that point with me. Nobody denies that Forrest has a great right hand, either.
What ruined Shane, as I've said before, was the 'roids. He was into that Barry Bonds/Jason Giambi Balco shit. Everyone knows that steroids don't mix with boxing because, 1. you lose flexibility, and 2. you don't have as much stamina. He gained muscle mass but it hurt him in the end because he can't fight at the higher weights. He should've never gone above 147 and, even that, might be too much for a fighter who started at 130.

Shane's best weight IMO is 135/140. He made a fatal error by putting on all that mass in order to get the big fights. I think after he beat Oscar the first time, his head blew up where he thought that he can actually fight these big guys and that just wasnt the case. He may have made millions as a result, but he could of made millions at 140 and 135 as well. To think that he was thinking about facing Trinidad at 160 prior to Wright beating him.
Things would be very interesting at 140 if a decent version of Mosley was there, he could have made a lot of money against Gatti, Tszyu, Mayweather etc.
I cant blame the guy for chasing DLH up to light middle but he should have gone back to 147 after it.
mosley would have dominated 140 (dont know if he could beat KT but it would have been one hella of a fight)
my thoughts:i dont think size or reach have anything to do here with him at 154...it just plain and simple he's doesnt do good at that weight (look at Lamotta-he was 5'7-5'8 and was a great 160 punder, just some can and come cant)
his power is weak at this weight and he doesnt handle it well..i say he does down to 147..or if he could..try to go down to 140 again and fight Floyd mayweather :D
