Puerto Rico has produced some great fighters. So who is the Ultimate Puerto Rican fighter?
Is it Wilfredo Gomez who dominated the 122lb division against greats from Mexico big names that include:
Carlos Zarate, Guadlupe Pintor
Or is it Edwin Rosario who at young age, Defeated tough Mexican veteran Jose Luiz Ramirez in their first bout, beat a young Frankie Randall. He also after suffering a devastatin TKO loss against JLR in the rematch, arguably defeated and changed a Prime Hector Camacho into a runner?
Or is it Felix Trinidad
Who gave Yori Boy, and fernando Vargas their first official and real loss and first person to KO william Joppy?

what about ruiz?
Gomez was the GREATEST 122 pounder !
In there best weight class, Gomez was Numero Uno. NOBODY beat him at 122 and he turned back the challenges of terrific fighters like Carlos Zarate and Lupe Pintor. He was a superb boxer with outstanding balance and brutal power.
Rosario was good and hard hiiter but he was beatable. Trinidad was great but I still think Oscar beat him. There's a few names that should be metioned like Carlos Ortiz, Esteban DeJesus, Alfredo Escalera, Wilfred Benitez, Jose Torres and that's just in my time. There are more before my day.
I have to cast my final vote for Gomez who was and always will be the "KING" of the 122 lb. class !

Dont forget Tito was the first to KO Vargas and Campas. He beat Yori Boy when he was 56-0 and suppose to be the second coming of JC. But he still needs to get by Hopkins to be GOAT
I believe it is Trinidad because he is the first to KO Joppy, and Mayorga. He is a new and improved Tito. He is on his way to owning another major belt since taking two years off. even though I still believe he can't beat Hopkins.
Carlos Zarate vs. Alfonso Zamora, at 118.
Zarate was 45-0, with 44 KO's
Zamora was 28-0, 28 KO's
The little guys can bang !
DAMMNNNN You can say that again
i remember going into the Sanchez fight Gomez was like 31-0 with 30 KO's. That is amazing to have 30 KO's out of 31 fights especially only weighing 122 pounds.
Easily Felix Trinidad. Trinidad is a guy who truly embodied the Puerto Rican hero thing. Wilfredo Gomez was a better fighter, but Trinidad was a bigger national hero.
How was Gomez better ?

Im Going With Trinidad But In About 5 Years I Think It Will Be Cotto.
tito is the best and biggest boxing superstar from puerto rico. and ur saying that in ONLY 5 years cotto will be better!?!?!?! i don't think so. if he ever is, which i dont' think he will be, it will take his whole career to do so!!
trinidad is the best from puerto rico
Edwin Rosario.....I really liked him. He wasn't, however, a great fighter. Far too inconsistent.
He was one of the hardest punchers I've ever seen...& I never saw a better PROSPECT than he...
But, he never turned out to be the complete fighting machine he appeared to be in his pre-title days.
He had some great victories (Bramble, Loreto Garza)....& some bad losses (Chavez, Nazario, Ramirez)...
Just too inconsistent.
yea...i forgot about Camacho..he was a beast at 130..I wouldnt go as far as saying Benitez was the best PR champ ever. He did beat Duran but he also lost to Hearns and Sugar Ray. In my opinion, He is up there but not the best
yeah, but he won the title at 17. got to be worth a mention.
ortiz was world champion when it was hard to win a championship, let alone keep it for as long as he did.
