Am I blind, or are there no threads on this yet? I looked to make sure I wasnt making a repeat thread...didnt see any.
Anyway, I thought it was a great fight, and a very close one at that. Personally I scored it 115-113 for Castillo, but could have lived with a draw. That score of 117-111 was an insult to Casamayor! If they both had been a little less cautious (although I understand the need...heavy hitters both) it would have been nothing but fireworks! Still a great fight and I would love to see a rematch :)
Sorry guys but to me the fight was very boring, all they do is hug and dance and push and shove. None of them was seriously hurt. I see Casamayor doing more of the holding though, trying to tie up Castillo.
Yeah I agree it was mostly Al Bernstein. He was the same one who thought Corrales dominated the first 9 rounds in thier rematch. Casamayor didn't win the last two rounds but he did get in several shots that Bernstein overlooked.
I dont think Bernstein WANTED to see those shots. See, I had it taping cause I was watching UT play ball..anyway, I came in around rd. 8 and within 4 min's already figured out that they were very much 'pro-Castillo'..I had missed most of the fight at that point but that much was obvious. Matter of fact, I accused them of sounding like HBO (they didnt hear me though :D )
Hey, I'm totally with you on this one! My point was how the commentators kept putting him down for it, but when Sheika did it ALL NIGHT LONG it was ok ;)

Casamayor did hold alot but I'm not going to penalize him for it because it's not like he does it all the time. I like fighters like Casamayor who are willing to fight anybody no matter what.

Ok then what's the reason for these guys not giving him a rematch? I thought he beat Frietas, Corrales both times and I thought he beat Castillo.
Good question! Stick and move is not the same as back pedaling, or whatever, either (or so I thought) and for that matter, they all do it! Hell, Omar Sheika really got on my nerves with all that hugging last night, but the commentators never emphasized on that. However, when Joel did it in the final rds it was a crime
Ok, I agree styles make fights, but Casamayor's style just pisses everyone off. I am not a big fan of the guy, I think he could probably win a gold medal at the olympics, but he is not an upper echelon fighter even though he had close fights with Freitas, Corrales, and Castillo.
I have a feeling that every fight he will be in will be close, but his backpedaling style will not win him enough rounds. Agaist poorer opposition, he can win every round like Byrd or Jones used to do.

I think Casamayor can beat any of the 135 pounders but will always have trouble with Castillo but who wouldn't at 135 right now. This kind of shows just how good Mayweather really is. Floyd was able to move and keep Castillo off of him and even frustrate Castillo at times throughout the rematch.

There was a thread after the fight but don't know what happened to it. I had it 115-114 for Casamayor. Casamayor controlled most of the fight early with Castillo coming on late but a little too late. I also thought Casamayor did alot better in the later rounds than Al Bernstein gave him credit for. I don't have a problem with Castillo winning but not by 116-112 or even worse 117-111.
Okay, I went and watched it again, and there was really only one rd. that I felt right changing, which made it a draw on my card. Casamayor came out strong and looked very good in the first few rds, then they seemed to swap rd's back and forth (more or less) for a few rds, but honestly I thought Castillo completely took over the championship rds. I love Casamayor and wanted him to win, but I just think he did a little too much holding in the final rd's and not enough slugging. Still a great fight, and I wish the powers that be would see fit that these 2 square off one more time! :D
I also had Castillo winning 115-113. The fight played out just like I thought it would Cassamayor winning early, Castillo getting closer in the middle rounds and Cassamayor hanging on for dear life in the late rounds.
I was very disapointed in Cassamayor. I thought I was watching a Jon Ruiz fight for a minute. He had to go in and take it from Castillo and he didn't he just held on way to much to win it.
Castillo has always been a favorite of mine and I jumped up when they said "And Stiiiiill". Notice how his face lit up the second Gray mentioned Corrales?
I gurantee that will be FOY if it comes off.
At long last, I'm back! Had untold grief with worms, viruses, etc. Had to get a new hard drive, new programming etc. I think an uppercut from George Foreman would have been less painful!
Anyway! Cassamayor is still fighting like an amateur. He looks to rack up points instead of going at it with an all out will to knock the guy out! He will never be a great!
That's only my humble opinion of course.

I would love to see Castillo go against Corrales next and Casamayor take on Morales.
If the winners faced each other this would be the only way Casamayor could get a rematch with Castillo or a third match with Corrales.
I'd say Casamayor would beat Morales who would make it tough in spots. He would be too strong plus he hits hard enough for Morales to respect him. Casamayor definitely showed his strength last night holding his own with Castillo in the clinches.
I said before the fight that Casamayor would give Castillo more trouble than Corrales and I'm sticking to that. Corrales will make Castillo look good. Not much movement and I think Castillo's chin will hold up as well. All this will add up to a Castillo decision with Corrales showing his heart as always.
Yeah I thought the same thing...I had it 116-112 Casa. Tracy must've been shrooming it up before the fight.
Vanda, why dont you keep your unnecessary insults and name calling of me on your and Sonny's thread? Youre trashing up a good thread for no reason.
Ha Ha...my boys done whipped yours!!! First to do that in what..21 games?? AWESOME!! I think theyre Super Bowl bound this year ;)
dillon was injured.patriots will kill em in the playoffs.
i am glad ciastillo won..casa slipped in the "championchip round"
anyway..though to be honest....i dont think any of them deserved to win..i mean its was pretty tied...casa dominating the start....middle rounds went both way..and casa getting his ass handed in final round...i think none deserved to win...i say rematch if anything...but no one deserved to say i clearly won in my eye's
steelers suck go patriots. :p

i thought casa won the fight. i honestly couldnt see it as less than a draw or a slim win for casa. i was shocked when they said that castillo won. it was a boring fight but imo it calls for a rematch. i could be biased because casa is one of my fav fighters though
