Legacies don't take on any major damage when one future HOFer beats another! DLH getting beat by a naturally bigger, great fighter like Nard causes no damage. Indeed it just reiterates the fact that Oscar fought anybody and everybody. That is your opinion and I disagree with it. Well...perhaps not major damage, but when you lose to another fighter, no matter how good you or your opponent is, your stock will at least fall slightly.

I just threw Morales in there because he was expected to win. But I don't doubt that many will not think Morales is as good after the loss than before the loss.

Hopkins had a similar knock recently though his win against DLH erases this image significantly. DLH has lost four in a row, which looks bad on any fighter trying to build a lasting reputation. Fourty years from now, he may be remembered more for his business experise than his fighting, since it looks like he might be able to build Golden Boy into a prospering company, and therefore set a shining example of what fighters can accomplish outside the ring. I disagree. Jones' legacy was being underestimated, not tarnished, during his career. I think he did fight and beat good opposition. Many say his toughest match was against Tarver and he didn't do anything to improve on his career against him. If he were to have soundly defeated Tarver, Jones' legacy would have been more secured, to many more people. DLH did not lose 4 in a row. If you want to take public opinion into consideration (as you are doing by saying he lost to Sturm), then consider that Mosely II could have gone to DLH.

so i guess barrera wont be looked at as one of the best anymore? i mean ur basing this on the fact that morales lost twice to MAB right? well MAB lost twice to Junior Jones, TKOd by Pac,and lost a decision to morales theres three guys walkin around that can say they beat Barrera Only one can say theyve beaten Morales Who cares? He beat the best fighter out of those names (Morales) therefore he will get all the credit.

It is all subjective. DLH may have needed to beat Hopkins in order to reach greatness, in some people's eyes. Losing to trinidad, Mosely twice, and having too many close matches really are why DLH is so talked about. Tyson, imo, needed this new comeback. He's really never beaten a great fighter and could have if he stayed on the right track this time around. Possible opponent could have been Vitali. Freitas may be a bit soon, but I don't see him coming back from this defeat. RJJ is a great fighter, but so many people have discredited him over the course of his career because of his opposition. Many felt tarver was the guy to beat, yet Jones lost to him. Eric Morales...well, he's not going to be looked at as one of the best anymore.

yea gotta agree with u dempsey, dlh and jones and tyson already secured legacies, and morales will be back for sure, not sure about freitas tho

Seriously, De la Hoya and Jones both secured they're legacies years ago, as did Tyson. Everyone knew that Tyson was no longer as he good as he used to be, Jones could beat top men in five divisions and that De la Hoya could do it in five. As for Freitas, I think he'll never recover from what happened this year. Morales will get back up, dust himself off and ride a bigger horse.
