Heres the list of fights that I think should be made , assuming Vitali beats Williams.
Byrd-Vitali 2(its the most prestigious fight to be made in the HW division right now)-winner fights the winner of Ruiz-Rahman 2
Ruiz-Rahman-2(I know the first one was terrbile and boring but lets see how Ruiz does against an inshape and focused Rahman)-winner fights the winner of Byrd-Vitali 2
After this we now have a unified champion, who should tghen fight Lamon Brewster or whoever the current holder of the WBO belt is at that point on time.
Or we could flip flop.
Byrd-Ruiz(actually this is a semi-intriguing matchup)
Vitali-Rahman(Again a very good match up)
Either way the winners all end up fighting one another.
Is there anybody else you would like to see in the unification, maybe like James Toney?
Must be the first time i totaly agree with you, they need to fight each other but i dont see king risk any of his champs against vk.
To bad, he and by Byrd got unsettled buisnes
Yeah Byrd and Vitali do have unsettled business, and a second fight, if not for unification's sake, then for the matter of settling once and for all of who would beat who.
This fight makes so much sense, both have something to prove agaisnt one another and both have belts.
How suddenly Rahman turned everything around by TKOing Kali Meehan dumbfounds me. He got dominated by Ruiz and he'd lose to him again. Byrd and Klitschko would also beat him. I don't see how Ruiz beats Byrd, so I think they are 3 candidates who could emrge if a real tournament was held, which may be wishful thinking: Byrd (yes I think he has a chance in a Vitali rematch), Vitali Klitschko, and James Toney.
I guess people are having Lennox Lewis flashbacks with the whole "in shape" thing. I think he can be a contender once again if he is in shape, though..

we need to see Byrd and VK fight... Byrd seems to think he has a right to talk big since he "beat" Vitali. The only other person right now that can "think" they have that same right is Lenox Lewis, but I don't think he wants to come out of retirement UNLESS all the advice he keeps giving to his henchmen to get rid of VK doesn't work and then he gets frustrated and decides to take that old saying and make it so : "if you want it done right, do it yourself"
otherwise, boxings structure should be maintained and kept... if someone is good, they'll prove themselves, get a title shot and see what they can do.
I sure hope that Vitali wins the fight coming up. Not only because I'm a big fan, but also because democracy in the Ukraine and to bring them to the world stage as there are so many orphans there that parents put there kids on a train and hope that someone will find them and take them in. I know that the future of the country doesn't depend on the outcome, but I want them to find strength in their champion :)
also, If Danny Williams wins, he's gonna retire anyways which again leaves the division in this suspended state of existence that leaves it undefined and not interesting..
that being said, would it be more adventageous for Don King to keep VK around so that there's always suspense waiting for the answers concerning Klitschko and the HW division?
Pno
One GREAT Thing About Vitali
Say what you want about Vitali..."he's stiff, he's robotic...etc"
One thing I love about V.K. is, the guy almost never clinches.
Sure he clinches when he's stunned (like any experienced fighter) but other than that, the guy loves to dish punishment.
He's pretty fun to watch, for a "stiff."
You people are giving Rahman way too much fucking credit. This is the same guy that was destroyed by the scrub Oleg Maskaev, was knocked the fuck out by Lewis when Lewis was motivated and in shape and was beaten soundly by the biggest piece of shit named Ruiz. You really should not be making any assumptions about Rahman winning it all after his performance against an outclassed Kali Meehan who should return to playing rugby in his native Australia.
King would never let them unify the title in my opinion. Why would he when he can just put on his heavyweight shows two or three times a year? That is the main reason there is no unified champion at heavyweight. Seeing as I never really cared for heavyweight boxing it doesn't matter who the unified champ is to me but if I had to pick it would probably be between Vitali and Byrd.
Unification
Great topic,Christtheanswer. Their definitely needs to be a unification in the heavyweight division. We need an undisputed champion and we need one before the end of 2005. Is that possible? I think if the top crop of heavyweight fighters(Byrd, ruiz, klitscho, rahman) can get it together and fight 2-3 heavyweight title fights each we could have an undisputed champ by December of next year.I think the following fights are in order:
1)Byrd-Ruiz...One of these fighters needs to step up and knockout the other
+
2)Rahman-Klitscho...The winner has a title shot against the winner of (1)
= IBF,WBC,WBA Champion

what ur saying needs to happen , but i doubt it will. If it does happen, I just hope Rahman walks away with the title and starts to focus on his career again.
I like him primarily because he is a big puncher and he brings the atitude. The HW division could use some spicing up.
yeah, i like rahman too. he's a street guy, and that means the fans like him, he's one of us
yeah i like rahman he seemed like he was a good champ when it was him.

James Toney is not a HW.
He gets beat up by all belt holders and Rahman, williams, tyson.
Why do you say James Toney is not a HW? Sure he took out an old Holyfield and a nobody in Booker, but the man has the skills to be a HW champion.
Toney has the skills to give Vitali and Byrd a tough fight and I believe that he could beat Ruiz the same way Jones did.
Toney is for sure a HW.
ahh man i wish its over quick i can't stand heavyweight boxers now a days, they are scared 2 get hit, I want James Toney 2 win, he looks like hes the guy with the skill and the balls to take it 2 some one,.
You gotta keep the faith that things in the HW division will get better.
Because without Faith what would we have?
heavys need to unify but i have a feelin if it were to happen rahman would be walking out undiputed champ again. he matches up well with each fighter and seems very motivated. he is also in great shape so that only helps him
Aside from being a Byrd fan I wouldn't mind seeing Rahman as a unified champion
