What is it with P4P lists these days?

Instead of a measure of overall skill and fighting ability, it seems to now be a popularity contest. I still dont get it. People are putting antonio tarver at #3? Ahead of tyszu and pacman? God, P4P lists are stupid now. It would be better to just say "rank." Antonio tarver is not a pound for pound better fighter than kostya tsyzu. Or felix trinidad for that matter even. I dont understand the whole logic of "until trinidad beats someone." hes beaten a ton of people, was high P4P before, and now comes back and destroys a good fighter in mayorga and doesnt even make top 10 with most people. yet because of one win, we have tarver at #3, the same guy who couldnt stop a washed up montell griffin, and the same guy who was beaten by eric harding? Someone clue me in.
