What I like about the fight is that the winner will be within one fight's range of the pound for pound top ten. Both are within the top twenty, and if the winner goes on and fights Diego Corrales, the last man standing has a strong claim to a lower end ranking. Assuming, of course that your lists are just like mine, which looks like:
1. Bernard Hopkins
2. Floyd Mayweather
3. Antonio Tarver
4. Winky Wright
5. Kostya Tzyu
6. Manny Pacquiao
7. Juan Manuel Marquez
8. Marco Antonio Barrera
9. Erik Morales
10. Oscar De la Hoya
This is a classic fight puncher vs Boxer, Castillo vs Casa, this could be a really good fight, casa isn't one of those puzzy boxers who runs instead of boxes, he can punch and could trade.
Wow, you have ODLH as #10? Good Lord. I have no argument for the first three but then I think you got it wrong. Why would Winky be above Kostya? Also, you have too many 126-130 fighters there. If your list were accurate, MAB could become #1 by beating JMM and Pac (beat three (Morales) top-10 p4p and you should be #1). I just dont' agree with it.
Here is my list:
1. Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
2. Bernard Hopkins
3. Antonio Tarver
4. Kostya Tszyu
5. Cory Spinks
6. Diego Corrales
7. Winky Wright
8. Pac
9. MAB
10. Felix Trinidad
I have Oscar at number ten because of his career achievements. I don't have a huge problem with removing him, but I do question your objectivity, since your name is PRboxingfan, and you replace him with a Puerto Rican. I have multiple 126 pounders listed because I think they deserve to be, regardless of the concentration in weight class. I don't think you can fairly say that Cory Spinks has a stronger claim to the Pound for pound list than Juan Manuel Marquez, nor do I think you can fairly say that Diego Corrales has a better claim than Erik Morales. I try not to judge everything by one or two fights. We obviously disagree on criteria for the pound for pound list. But why does that give you the right to come in here and act so flippantly? This is my thread.
I agree about Kostya and Wright. I don't know why I had Kostya ranked so low.
I can't continue to harp on this for ever, JL Castillo is by far, by far, the most underappreciated fighter in the sport today, there is no other fighter that even comes close. After Saturday night and all the fights that will have taken place the buzz will be about one man...JL Castillo. Castillo is going to beat the living shit out of Casamayor....when he does so people are going to rethink who they like in a matchup between Corrales and Castillo. The beating that he gives Joel will make it tough for even retards to keep him out of the top ten(don't get me wrong I love retards, theres no doubt about that)...I'm telling you this fight will be good, but early on you are going to see one guy(casamayor)trying to outpoint/win the fight and another guy(Castillo)simply trying to win the war...you may be confused early but by the sixth you will realize that JL is taking him out...it is just a matter of time!
