November 22, 2004 - Sources very close to the situation have informed that Diego “Chico” Corrales’ next opponent could be Kostya Tszyu. Both have just come off big wins, and both have their teams in contact with each other to discuss the When’s, Where’s, and How Much for their fight. When asked about this Corrales confirmed that talks were in fact going on, and that it would probably take place at the junior welterweight level.
I sincerely hope THAT FIGHT does not happen.
I respect both and favor KT
but this is an all risk but little reward fight,
Diego was stopped by two smaller guys in Casamayor (cut or no cut and towel or no towel)
KT doesn't need this fight
he doesnt need it, true. but it would be a relatively easy win over a high quality opponent
exactly. I just rewatched some of the Freitas fight (Corrales vs. Freitas) and the way he's throwing punches leaves himself wide open, although he knew he was getting away with them against Freitas. I see a pretty brutal knockout here at the hands of Kostya.
I see not a lot of people have chimmed in with an opinion on this one yet but I am surprised no one is giving CHico a chance. I like KT myself but I will admit that Diego could easily KO the champ if given the opportuniy. If you look at Diego's loses, both the guys had good lateral movement and were way faster than he is. Even in the Freitas fight, Acelino was killing him until he got tired and was trapped on the ropes. KT does not move laterally like PBF or Joel. He is more of a stalker and counter puncher which could lead to his demise against a power puncher like Diego. The way Goosen has Diego tucking his chin and throwing the jab would make this a great fight to see. KT would have to respect his power unlike the way he did against Sharmba and just walked through all his shots. All that being said, I still like KT due to the fact that I know Diego can and has been KOed before. KT has too, but not the way PBF did Diego and that was a long time ago as well.
Oh. For the person who said Diego would beat PBF easily. I guess they are on crack or something  cause PBF has only gotten better and he still has the movement and defense that would give Chico trouble. Diego has gotten better admittedly but he aint great like Floyd and PBF is still the best boxer in the game right now by far. Just look how he was plastered by Acelino who is not nearly as fast as PBF. That right their should tell you what Floyd would do to him. Again!
you gotta remember that tszyu has one good chin on him, I don't see how CHico can easily knock him out. He could use that height of his, but his chin will be exposed to those straight rights from Tszyu, since he'll really ahve to tuck it to hide it. Plus Tszyu will WORK that body.
naw dude i am only 18..i know my bad about that ...but yeah lol...
KT vs Margarito =fight of the year or even decade
Not if it's the same decade as Gatti-Ward I. Still, Tzyu-Margarito is a great one, you're right. Tzyu-Spinks would be less exciting by far, but I wouldn't mind seeing that either.
I think that Tszyu might be too much for Corrales. Especially with Chico's go out on his shield attitude. It might be exciting while it lasted but I would fear for his longterm well being from the punishment that he would suffer from Kostya.
Tszyu by devastating KO. Tszyu is naturally used to fighting at higher weights than Corrales is and Tszyu has that amazing handspeed. He would rip through Corrales in no time at all. I hope this is rumour because there are far more worth while fights i would rather see than this blatant slaughtering.

excactly dude..i mean loo frietas is the smae size as KT and was connecting no stop on corrales...KT i gonna seriously hurt chico..(i am not a chico fan so i wouldnt mind seeing chico get KTFO) butit doesnt do anything for KT...well no actully a resume' the has 2 ko'since 2 years and the two fighters on it are chico/mitchell=great possability for a big money fight down the road...
did u hear the cotto was the one that may have fought KT...anyway excpet for PBF and gatti...anyone else is not a challange for KT...i think KT can take anyone at 140-147..except for Margarito (tough fight to call..but in would pay a lot to see this)
I think I agree with what you're saying...That is, if I'm reading what you said correctly. I don't mean to sound like a snot, but are you typing drunk? Because I can't help but notice that your spelling has suffered since your last post.

chico will get is ass handed to him...this fight wont last 5 rounds ...KT all the way
This is one of the silliest and least marketable fights for either fighters. I Chico wants to move up to 140 he ought to get himself rated against any of the mid-level 140 lb fighters and then go for the rematch with Floyd. This matchup is Tzyuicide.
I believe this is a different Chico than we've seen in the past. Most people didn't think he'd get past Casamayor in the second fight nor that he'd get passed Freitas. The truth of the matter is that Chico is much better now than when he faced PBF and he can take over the 135 division with ease. He needs to look for fights at 140 and Zoo is a great start. I believe that Zoo wins this fight (a fight that won't go the distance no matter who wins) but Chico has a GREAT chance of pulling it out. As a matter of fact, if Chico faced PBF at 140 my money would be on Chico.
I see Zoo pulling out a 7th round KO but if Chico can take his power (and I'm almost sure he can) then he will KO Zoo if it goes past 7. So, I call it for Zoo but I'm not surprised if Chico wins. Very close fight.
BTW, a very good friend of mine once asked me who the best middleweight in the world was. When I said B-Hop he told me that it was Chico Corrales. He has a point.

I definitely think that Tszyu doesn't need this fight, but if it's for Corrales' titles also..that'd be good. Tszyu by fifth or sixth round knockout..maybe..maybe later.
Chico's a warrior that's for sure, but stepping in the ring with Tszyu is dicing with death. Tszyu's body shots will snap chico in half. If mayweather can drop Corales then Tszyu will drop him easy. I just don't see Corales being able to escape Tszyu's accurate punches.
