This has been coming for years, but it wasn't until the Donald fight I realized how sad this is. I watched the post-fight interview and it was ridiculous. He said hes going to keep fighting, that atleast he did better than in the Toney fight, it was ridiculous. If he fought Tyson a 3rd time, it would look like Tyson-Spinks. And that still wouldn't be enough probably. I think medical suspension is the only way to resolve this.
It is the sad fate of over-achievers like Holyfield that among the few things they find difficult to learn is when to quit. They persist in thinking that their will is so powerful that they can will themselves into winning even if all odds are stacked against them; as they have done in their past.

Why not leave this decision to Holyfield?
I have read that he had seriously hurt his back one week before the fight.
Another point is that I really just can't understand him. It shouldn't be about money cause he has earned more than enough. His legacy is secured as well. What could possibly make him continue? And every time I ask myself this question I see the people surrounding him. Not Holyfield is the problem it's these guys who'd rather see him getting really bad hurt than missing a possible cash check.
Next time Holy faces a big puncher ( i hope it's never ) he'll be forced to lean back, and he might never get up. does the name Jimmy Rodrigues or Jonny Owen mean anyhting?
I'm embarassed to say i don't know who Jimmy Rodrigues is. I already know about Owen, so if I could have a little imformation about Rodrigues, I'd be glad to read it.
well the two fighters holyfield has recently faced are skilled boxers and boxed him, whereas tyson would just come forward. I wouldn't make Tyson a huge favorite against Holyfield in a third match. I'd sitll pick Tyson to win however.

Absolutely. I'm glad the New York Fighting COmmission did what they did. He needs to be stopped before he gets hurt and gives himself brain damage.
