These days in the heavyweight division you get ONE good win and you're suddenly a contender. James Toney's two wins at heavyweight are mediocre. His win over Holyfield, which looked great at the time has now been put into perspective by Holy's thrashing at the hands of Larry Donald. And his win over BOoker proved nothing. Wouldn't a fight with Rahman or Toney bring more credibility and more sales than a fight with a guy who stopped a faded Mike Tyson? Toney stopped a faded Holyfield what in his heavyweight achievements has he done that makes him so great. Rahman needs to beat a name fighter. Williams was the right choice for Vitali to make more money I think but I dont understand why Williams didn't opt for Ruiz I think he would have been easier.

Damn too bad i wont be able to see Hatton. We in Brooklyn will only get Cotto as an undercard. I dont even remember the name of a guy he fights. i hope they do make the fight with rachman, so we can be rid of him for good.... he couldn't beat ruiz or holyfield, but he has people buzzing about him cause he's beaten a few BUMS.... VK will KO his ass badly...

vk is fighting danny cause there was nobody else out there for him.... golota, ruiz, byrd, rahmnan, etc all just fought on that crap card the other weekend.... mesi is out indefinately... toney just fought booker and is now injured..... so that left willliams, barrett, jirov, whitaker and fres... of which williams is the hottest fighter About Rachman...they're saying he's the mandatory challenger now and DOn King himself stated he's trying to line up a fight against Vitali for Rachman in March or April of next year. But what happened to the Beck/Barret fight facing Toney for mandatory challenger? And when is the beck/barrett fight anyway?

the ppv in the uk will be pretty good though gents, that might balance the books a little more. espcially with hatotn on earlier, anyone who likes boxing in the uk will be aware of dec 11th.

I agree, why THIS fight? Maybe it's good to get a fighter acclammated to PPV before they try to push a BIG PPV fight for Vitali, like say ag ainst Byrd, or Toney or something..

I was reviewing the WBC rankings, and I was shocked. There are 5 heavyweights ranked above him, and all five fighters would be much more competitive. This fight is going to be a replay of the Kirk Johnson fight, unless you are a big Cotto or Vitali fan, save your money. I've read that VItali even said that they started on paper work between him and Tyson to fight, so I think Vitali really feals c heated out of not getting hte opportunity to fight Tyson. FIghting Danny Williams after this fight seems a litlte more dangerous than some of those other guys ranked above Williams, and plus they wanted a big name to get the PPV fight. I also doubt the availiability of some of those fighters ranked above Williams.

its a shame that mike tyson is still making ppv and he isnt even fighting. thats all it is. the mike tyson show rolls on with williams at the helm. if williams loses inside 2 rds he could take on herbie hide who also got bashed in 2.now i do wanna see that

whitaker also has losses to mccline and savarese..... more importantly, what has whitaker done since his last loss to mccline??? nothing..... whitaker has done even less than wiliams to earn a title shot.... THe fight doesn't bother me as much as the fact that they are making it a PPV...THAT is ridiculous.

jirov is a cruiserweight who just lost to mesi, as did barrett.... fres was just KO'd by ruiz... whitaker has beaten NOBODY.... williams fresh off the tyson KO, is hotter then all of them right now... he's the most sellable opponent and IMO more dangerous than any of the others mentioned... Whitaker has beaten Maskaev and Barrett, both of whom are ranked higher than Danny Williams by the WBC.
