Me,friends and family watched the fight and couldn't help but notice that everytime Mosley did somthing that HBO said almost nothing. Mosley would land a 5 punch combination and HBO was silent but the second Wright threw a punch it was huge. This my question for some of the Boxing scene members: If you muted your TV and put paper across the bottom so you couldn't see the scores, do you think it would have been closer in your mind? It would in mine, because I thought Mosley fought the best he has in a long time. I thought the fight was much closer than Harold Lederman had it scored. Did anyone else notice that Jim Lampley wouldn't say anthing about Mosley besides negative comments?
Winky Wright is another dull champion. He's so lucky that he can take Mosley anytime. Mosley is good but he lacks the power to really punish Winky. Mosley should consider the next move of DLH.
I too think HBO was very biased. I think Wright won by just one round. Shane did great, I really enjoyed his fighting.
Larry Merchant acted like a complete DORK with his interrogative manner of questioning Shane and with his trying to tell Shane that Shane looked poor and did nothing great in that fight. This was aweful and biased !
For all practical purposes, it was a very equal, competitive fight and Shane has nothing to be ashmed of! He's done great!
He lost on the scorecard, but he did not get beaten!
Hell, to hear him tell it, Shane is finished...he (Merchant) actually asked him if he was done or something like that! He's a disrespectful pig and has been for yr's!
i think HBO is generally biased against Mosley, in all of his recent fights they were practically cheering for the other guy to win, it seems lampley and merchant notice more what the other guy's do against Mosley. Sportscasters are always biased, they're just like everybody else, but they should learn to keep that shit inside, it's discouraging to the other fighter. When you're in the ring, you can hear people watching the fight talking about you, at least i can. i wish mosely would do what i do when i hear everyone cheer for the other guy, get mad, really turn it on or at least try to. When i hear the cheer's for the other guy, it's time to swarm!

it was a sad fight for Shane, he fought better than he has in a long time. i thought the fight was really close, it could have been a draw, but Shane didn't do enough to take the title away from Wright
Oh yeah...was that Nelly at the fight who kept standing up? Who was he cheering for Shane or Winky?
Good question, both of them! I think it was Nelly (cant swear to it, I'm a rock and roller, not a hip hopper ;) ) but I have no idea who he was rooting for
I thought the fight was alot closer than the HBO people. I had it a draw with Shane winning the last round. All Wright did was pitter-patter with jab in the last round & clinch Shane when he got close when Shane was the agressor & landing some.
I wanted Shane to win to tell you the truth, it was sad to see such a dominant fighter at lighter weights get dominated...
I did too, very much so. I really wanted him to get his titles back and I was a little sad when it went the way it did :(
I can understand what you all are saying, but who cares who side the commentators are on? Would they have any influence on the judging, is that what you're saying?
No, not at all....and that was apparent with the scorecards, where they had Winky winning by a small margin and even a draw on one ;) It just get's old...to give one guy all the credit in the world, and the other guy nothing but critisim when he's fighting his heart out. I thought Shane did quite well, and definately much better than the first time!

I agree completely! When they were forced to acknowledge something Shane did, it was always "and Winky walked right through it" and when Winky landed it wasnt "Shane walked right through it", it was "and Winky keeps landing that right hand,etc.." it made me sick. You'd think that I'd be use to it by now. When they did have to give Shane credit, they always found a way to 'downplay' it or take away from it in some way. According to them, he couldnt do anything unless Winky "let" him and Winky is the best boxer on earth! I gave the decision to Winky by a point....only a pt! I would have understood a draw. And Shane was landing alot more than they credited him for...alot more!
Wright won a clear decision (being EXTREAMly generous to Mosley he won no more then 5 rounds) but yes Lampley has pissed me off many a time for being extreamly biased in his commentary. Jones Jr on the other hand I thought did an excellent job.
Agreed,
I think Jones has found a good second career. I know he has done this in the past, but this one he did well. Pretty non-biased and accurate acounting of the fight. This kid could have a real future.... :D
