Gerald Nobles looked terribly out of shape and got disqualified for repeated low blows. Both looked like shit and aren't anyway near a legitimate contender rank. This was one of the worst HW boxing matchups I've ever seen. Valuev (2,13) had a huge size advantage over Nobles (1,81) but was way to slow and untalented to capitalize on that. Whatever the best man in the ring was the referee ... and he was shit as well.
Being a fan and watching these guys compete I don't care how much effort they put in their work when they're doing fine and entertain me with their greatness. I'd rather see a talented lazy bum over a untalented hard worker anyday.
To achieve real greatness you gotta have both: talent and a great work rate. And that's the same all around the sports world. Jordan worked his ass off, Tiger Woods worked his ass off, Bobby Fischer worked his ass off ... this list could go on and on. But these guys wouldn't have achieved anything if they wouldn't have had their amazing talent in the first place.
You can't make an elephant out of a mouse no matter how hard you teach it. And for this reason Valuev will never be an outstanding boxer. He'll get as good as he can and that is still pretty bad. If he'd fight guys his size with his kind of training he'd lose most of the fights.
And if I watch boxing I want to see good boxers not some genetical freaks. If I'd like to see some Giants moving around I'd rather watch WWE or some other wrestling shit.
At the end of the day we all want to see the best athletes facing each other. And Valuev due to his lack of talent will never be one of them.
i saw the fight , and :
-all valuev has is SIZE .
-he only does 1-2 , 1-2 , he can t box , he is SLOW.
-nobles has tits BUT he can fight. he found openings and stun the bigger guy witha few shots.
-the refferee saved valuev , who after dominating the first 2 rounds got caught and ROCKED by nobles right crosses , and the DQ lowblow was not low , but in germany i m gettin used to it , it s scandalous .
-valuev would get kill by any short heavy with speed , tua barret , tyson toney , they would torture the giant.
-how they allow obvious corruption to be televised every month is beyond my understanding.
I've seen a lot of HW bouts and I've seen some really bad ones but this one was just a disgrace for the sport. Valuev looked like he didn't know what to do. He wasn't able to hold Nobles on distance, he wasn't even able to connect with his jab which is pretty sad considering his huge size and reach advantage. In fact I'm quite happy about this fight being stopped so early because I'm not sure if I would've been able to follow it much longer. Don't get me wrong, it's not about Valuev being Russian or Nobles being American. It was just a very bad fight and I use to tell what I think. Nobles stunned Valuev once with some wild hooks that were very predictable and Valuev just stood there and didn't know how to react.
I have to admit that I haven't seen a lot of Nobles before but he just looked out of shape with these titties and all the weight he was carrying. He wasn't fast, nor controlled, nor anyway near the standards for a good HW. He might have a good punch though but that's about it.
Funny thing is it looked like most of his low blows weren't thrown on purpos. Valuev had such a huge size advantage that it looked like Nobles could headbut him to the groin. And Nobles punches were far from accurate. That guy acted like he'd be surprised after he was finally dqed. The ref took 3 points for low blows before that.
In my opinion its just the bad state of HW boxing that makes a future hope out of a slow and untalented giant like Valuev. I'm sorry if that sounds a little harsh but as I've said before this fight was worse than bad.
...fair enough Dude!!! :)
WHen trainers are asked what they'd rather have in the fighters they are training: talent or a good work rate, most of the time they answer with the latter element. Talent can take you far but without the proper work and dedication one will fall short. Valuev should be commended for his good work ethic and his attitude in the ring.
I understand that talent is something that he's not in abundance of, but with experience and training skills come that can do a fighter a lot of good, sometimes overcoming a very talented fighter.
Plus, Valuev knows where he's at in his career, he does not have delusions of grandeur, and does not go around saying that he could beat Klitschko or any of the other champions at this moment.
I kinda disagree Novirasputin. It's not only hard work that earns you a shot at a big payday it's talent as well. If every man above 2,10 would step into the ring and only work hard we would have thousands of wannabe prospects that can't box but want a shot at the big time.
I believe that Shaquille O'Neal would knock Valuev out if he'd been trained for a year or so. And thats a sad thing isn't it? At the end of the day I want to see the best athletes competing, not the ones who work the hardest.
I was really disappointed in the outcome, I was hoping to see how Valuev would have handled Nobles. I believe that the fight was competitive in its first four rounds and that Valuev was a little hurt a couple of times. I don't think that he was getting hit with true low blows, although with his height and the way the shorts were pulled up one can't blame the referee too much. At 39-0 Valuev has no credible names on his record, and really needs to step it up. He's not young.
Hey do you know where we can watch those guys?
I heard of them so I'd like to take a look to make my opinion, even though it doesn't sound exciting :-)
I don't think that Valuev will be shown on television in the USA in the near future. So you might have to get a tape in order to see him.
Nobles should fight on some undercards soon as he's one of Don Kings fighters.

I've heard people talk about this Valuev character..was curious about him.
You're welcome.
Well, Valuev is tall, very tall ... but that's about it. At least in my opinion.
Yes, if I got it right Nobles has beaten Seldon in his biggest fight so far.
And well, this fight was on TV ... in Germany. ARD bings someboxing from time to time. But dont you be dissapointed, you haven't missed a thing.
thanks

Isn't Nobles the guy with the nice rack? beat Seldon a few months back?
was this fight on tv? what channel? I never heard about it.

...Yeah, not sure how you tell a guy looks like shit after 4 short rounds. Sounds like a little German envy of the Russian boxers.

Gerald Nobles looked terribly out of shape and got disqualified for repeated low blows. Both looked like shit and aren't anyway near a legitimate contender rank. Whatever the best man in the ring was the referee ... and he was shit as well.

Wow
Valuev looked realy impressive in his last fight! Was he just out of Shape, or was Nobles maiking it a horrible show. By the Way you kow Nobles always has had those man titties correct? If thats what you used to determine he was out of shape!
