HBO Latino...last night

Did ANYBODY else happen to see the 'little fellas' going at it good last night on HBO Latino?? Clarence Vinson (former Olympian) fought Cesar Morales (any relation to the 'terrible' one I have to wonder after watching him!!), both bantam wt's. I know the majority of you "scoff" at the smaller guys, and I personally dont usually get too 'pumped' over bantams, but honestly it was a great pre Mosley-Wright fight. Small or not, these 2 boy's had the baddest of intentions and I got the impression that they didnt much like each other eiter! Regardless of how hard they hit, hitting is what they did, and in high volume. A very entertaining, competitive brawl. It almost reminded me of a 'mini' Gatti-Ward.....ALMOST!! :eek: Laugh or not guys, I loved every minute of it, except for the 'too involved' ref. who appeared to be in Vinson's corner, so to speak. It was action packed, no hugging but plenty of slugging with a knock down on both sides. These scrappy little dudes put it all out there, and it was pretty awesome once I got past the fact that they were indeed only bantam wt's. Excellent matchmaking, and I'd definately clear my schedule for a rematch. AND, to top it off, the judges even got it right this time and gave the nod to Morales who didnt look so hot in the 1st rd. but came back swinging and kicking ass! By the way, the main event wasnt half bad either...the whole 2 rd's of it. Jhonny Gonzalez-Gabriel Elizondo...yes, both bantams, slugged it out for the NABO title. If any of you get HBO Latino, I strongly recommend catching the replay!

How much does HBO Latino cost to subsribe to? It's not included in my HBO package, and I want to see these fights... Depends on your location.....I pay $150 per mo. but I have everything but Telemundo and Telefutra, which arent available in my area yet :(

The hook for the fact was that both Vinson and Morales were 2000 Olympians. Morales fought for Mexico, along with Pone de Leon and Bojado, while Vinson, of course, fought for the US. I'm pretty sure they didn't face each other in the eliminators, although there is an off-chance that I'm wrong. I loved the fight but hated to see Vinson bitch every time Morales threw a borderline punch. And I think Morales was poorly done by the ref, who deucted a point for low blows after only one warning. Granted, the low blow that elicited the warning was pretty blatant, but the second was right around the waist. Still, both fighters deserve respect for their performance. That's what I meant in my post that started this thread when I said the ref. was too involved and appeared to be in Vinson's corner, so to speak. He nagged Morales all night long! :mad: I agree he deducted the pt. waaaaaaayyyyy too soon, but thankfully the judges finally got one right anyway! ;)

The only ones I see giving him trouble at bantamweight are a focused Timmy Austin and Veeraphol Sahaprom. I think a prime Sahaprom stops him, but now he's too old. In his prime, Sahaprom's body shots and great chin would've been too much for Marquez, as I feel he Marquez' weight issues would leave him susceptible. At 122, Larios would stop him. I dunno who told you that Rafael Marquez has trouble making weight, but he doesn't. I do agree, though, that if Austin and Sahaprom weren't old they could give Marquez trouble. Marquez would stop Austin in a rematch quicker than he did the first time. He would either decision Sahaprom or stop him fast, because Veerapol wouldn't be used to getting up for big fights any more. Look at the guys he fights. They're not even C-level opponents.

Oh I figured they werent...it was more a joke really, cause of how he went from getting knocked down in the first round to kicking serious butt from then on! i wish i has hbo latino. :( sounds like i missed a very good fight. i prefer lower weight classes. the output is more and longer. If you want, private mess. me your mailing address, and I'll make you a copy (or tape it again for you when they replay it cause the original is always better than a copy ;) )
