Whatever happened to Vernon Forrest?

i thought he hurt his back or shoulder. Has he fought since mayorga? How do you guys think he will do against Winky at 154? I think it would be a good match up. A lot of people like to dismiss Vernon since he lost to Mayorga but he is a well schooled fighter with good skills and has power in the right hand. He could hurt Winky if he gets careless.

He was supposed to fight on the Klitscho/Williams undercard, but why he isn't on it now is beyond me.

The Ring had begun rating him at 154, and that's where he was scheduled to fight T. Reid, but in the last couple of issues, I've niticed him rated at 147 again. Still, havn't heard who or when he plans on fighting again.

I would like to see him at 154 fight Daniel Santos and win the WBO title. Then he should fight Winky Wright. I feel his right hand would be strong enough to make Winky back up. His whole future should be at 154, I feel he could dominate there the way he should've dominated at 147.

heard hes mostly done at 147 and hes gonna fight at 154.

He was scheduled to fight Teddy Reid on the undercard of Vitali Klitschko-Sanders on April 24, 2004 but had to pull out with a shoulder injury.

Someone was rattling off upcoming dates for HBO fight in the coming year and I remember Vernon being on one of the dates. We should see him again in the coming months.

how long has he been out of action. surely not since the mayorga fight.

Think that Vernon really has a great chance of beating Spinks. That should be his goal right now if he still wants to continue boxing. Just have to win over Corey in a convincing way...

Last I heard he was supposed to be fighting Corey Spinks for the title. Buty now that Corey is fighting Zab Judah in a rematch I guess this is out the window. He still has enough skill to battle with the best. He might have learned a hard fought lesson against Mayorga but it should make him a better fighter. I would have given him a good shot at beating Spinks though.

I read an article in ESPN the magazine that said he was fighting Mayweather sometime this year...I guess they were WAY off. :(

He was realy dissapointed after the NIcaruaguan beat him in the rematch. He was contimplating retirement, but I guess he decided to stick w/it last I heard ?? :confused:
