Norman Stone

I met Norman Stone when I was 14, and training at the Somerville boxing club. He is basically a hot head and will do anything to make sure his fighter wins,sometimes to ruiz's detriment. There was also an article in the Boston Globe about Stone's refusal to pay back rent for the space he used for the Somerville boxing club. I'm not sure if he ever resolved it, but he seems like a real arogant fool. :mad:

looks like NYSAC has suspended stone for 60 days( should be longer), rightfully so though, it's a good start.they should slap him with a stiffer fine other then a thousand bucks though..... Yeah, I think he got off easy with the thousand dollar fine.

Stone is certifiably insane. He yells at every referee who has the misfortune of handling a John Ruiz fight. And to think....these outbursts are all to protect the single most ridiculous fighter to ever gobble up the spotlight. Stone & Ruiz are a nightmare for the sport of boxing.

i hope he has a heart attack in the middle of one of his classless fits and no one comes to his aid, so he could see how many peole care for him and his bullshit antics..ruiz and stone need a hint of death, so they see how fortunate they really are, cause they act like the world is trying to screw them, when thats not the case. that team is the luckiest ever in boxing and it's a damn shame that the luck swings their way... i wouldn't even piss on his gums if they were on fire, to help put out the flames! no class having bum, he is a true disgrace to the sport and i think he should be banned like panama lewis, for his antics....so boxing can save a little face.......

From an entertainment stand point though Stone is amussing and knowing HBO you never know...imagine, Larry Merchant and Norman Stone doing play by play for a match LOL thats worth 50 bucks alone!

Alton Merkison, Roy Jones' trainer is the one who laid him out. The funny thing is that Alton is usually cool as a cucumber. Norman Stone is an asshole who could piss off the pope.

That's the only way I'll ever watch Ruiz fight again- if it's a tag-team fight between Ruiz,Stone-Bowe and Rock Newman! Can somebody please explain why Newman used to always wear all the african clothes and what not, i didn't think he was South African?

He tried to fight somebody in Fres Oquendo's corner when they met before the fight to touch gloves. ...Usually when a guy gets an ass whippin like he got from RJJ's trainer he learns his lesson. Apparently Stoney is about as dumb as he is obnoxious.

i think he was more interesting than that fight. he was acting like a little girl, but it was quite funny.

Personally, I try not to let this kinda stuff bother me because a lot of trainers are hard a**es anyways (such as Teddy Atlas, Lou Duva, etc). It seems to go with the teritory. Stoney has to be the worst i've seen though.
