I really hope that another thread about this fight scheduled for Dec. 4th isnt out there anywhere; if there is, all apologies! I'm really looking forward to this fight and even though I like Castillo I'd like to see Joel win this one as a 'come back' fight after losing to Corrales. I think he can do it but he will have to be careful and not take Castillo lightly.
What's your picks??
Other fight's that might be worth 'looking forward' to (as far as I'm concerned anyway) are:
Jeff Lacy - Omar Sheika (I like them both, so this one is tough)
Rocky Juarez - Guty Espadas (Rocky has potential but needs to redeem himself after the gift decision he got last fight)
Alot of people dont care for Jeremy Williams, but I'm looking forward to his fight with Samuel Peter! :o
And then there's Dominick Guinn - Serguei Lyakhovich.......and I wil be rooting for Guinn in this one!
Just a few, other than Morales-Barrera, Wright-Mosley, which we've already discussed repeatedly.
Is there any chance we will see Chico-Casa III next year????
I hope like hell they do! I believe that Casamayor can win the rubber match; Gossen leaving his camp and immediately going to work for Diego was a bad thing for Joel considering it happened right before the rematch. He was able to train Diego to fight a particular style that was sure to beat Joel cause he knows Joel so well and if Joel can make the correct adjustments I dont think having Gossen in his corner (chico's) will help him very much the third time around. Just my opinion....... :)
I still believe having him as his trainer gave him (chico) a hugh advantage that normally he wouldnt have had.
castillo will hurt casa and bad..i think casa should have taken another fight ot gone up in weight or something...casa would have a better chance against manny pacquaio (remember it was about to happen at one point) then castillo...q here is...is castillo vs corrales on the horizon finally after this...
and who is corales fighting next again????
i believe Castillo will destroy casa based simply on the facts that he alot bigger, he entered the lazcano fight damn near welterweight limit and his skills are often overlooked
Actually he entered that fight just a shade under the Junior Middle limit, but I did'nt think he looked terribly sharp -- granted he did handle the tough Lazcano without much trouble. Anyway, I think size or not, he'll have to be a lot slicker and quicker to do that to Casa.
high gang, new to board had a few quick questions, #1 how do you earn points, #2 whats the deal with karma? i believe Castillo will destroy casa based simply on the facts that he alot bigger, he entered the lazcano fight damn near welterweight limit and his skills are often overlooked
I'd for one, like to see both of them win a couple of big fights and pick up some more hardware before having the rubbermatch (Chico-Casa that is). I'd hate to see one of their careers obstructed by a second loss to the other. I guess that would all be out the window though if one of them was beaten badly in the meantime, but I don't see that happening. There are a lot of good fights available right now at 135, and even more possible considering the talent lurking at 130. I'd like to see as many different fights as possible between these guys (Castillo, Chico, Morales, Casa, Diaz, etc) perhaps a tournament similar to the one at Middleweight in 2001. I'm sure this is all a bit unrealistic, but ideally I'd like to see something like that climaxing with Chico-Casa 3 for the Undisputed Lightweight Title
Casamayor could win this fight if he decides to box and move more and not get caught up in a brawl with Castillo. Good movement can make Castillo look silly in the ring. I not saying Casamayor is as good as Mayweather but the times that Mayweather moved and didn't stay in one place he had Castillo frustrated. Casamayor is a very good boxer and mover if he wants to but lately he has been trying to be a brawler which is why the Seda fight was closer than expected. Even in the Seda fight when Casamayor boxed he was winning. While I still say Castillo by close decision it wouldn't surprise me if Casamayor won by about a 116-112 margin if he boxes and not try to slug it out.
Casa looked old against Daniel Seda, a blown up featherweight. That fight was 95-93 IMHO and could've well been a tie. Seda came on strong and won rounds 6-9, round 5 was a 9-9 round, and round 10 I gave to Casa but it could've gone either way. Imagine what Castillo is going to do to him. He's getting KTFO.
remember.....Casamayor looked kinda poor against Nate Campbell.
It was that fight that lead me to believe he was a dead man against Chico. He came alive for Corrales.
I sense he took the Seda fight lightly. He was handling Seda very easily, that's why he got careless/dropped....& let Seda get back ino the fight.
I think we'll see a very good Casamayor for this fight, but he's taking on a bit too much in Castillo.

It should be Corrales and Casamayor in a rubbermatch but for whatever reason Corrales doesn't want to give Casamayor the rubbermatch. Officially they are 1-1 so I would rather see them face each other again to determine who is the best which I think is Casamayor.
As far as Castillo/Casamayor both are slow starters so it may take them a few rounds to get going but during that slow period I think Casamayor will take the lead in the first 4 rounds. It may even look easy at times because Castillo takes about 4 rounds to get going where as Casamayor takes about 2 rounds. The 5th is where it will get heated and Casamayor will continue to box but eventually get pulled into a fight. In the end I think Castillo does just enough to get a close decision. I don't see a stoppage for either guy.
I'd like to see that match up too, but would rather see a rubber match between Chico and Joel first....there's just so many 'pair ups' with potential to be great fights it's hard to pick exactly what order they should come in. I'd hope that a third fight between Corrales and Casamayor would be a bit of a 'grudge' match :D ...In other words, an all out war!

This is an interesting match...but damn, I wish it was Corrales-Castillo.
What a way to end the year....with what could be the single best match of the year.
Yeah that's the fight I want to really see, but Castillo-Casa will do fine, and I go for the bigger Castillo...

Castillo is just a bit too big, strong, & good for Casamayor.
If Sheika fights Lacy the way he fought Butler, don't expect a good fight.
That's what I say! Lacy will KO Sheika in 7 and Castillo will KO Casamayor in 9. After what Castillo did to Lazcano there is no way Casamayor can beat him.
i really just think that lacy would have a hell of a lot of trouble against sheika.
i just see it coming down to who lands the ko punch first and you might aswell toss a coin to pick the winner.
I agree totally! Sheika is just one of those fighter's that occasionally totally mess up someones 'game plan', very unexpectedly! Scott Pemberton knows all about that! :)
