who is or was the hardest hitting MW ?
i would go with the G MAN , his size and power were out of this world for a middleweight.
julian jackson may come second.
Gerlad took a number of big shots in the first couple of rounds against Jackson. If Gerald could walk through that firepower he would have walked right through Tito and seriously hurt him. Had G-man been ok or never went through what he did against Benn, Jones would have never fought him, he would have moved up and we would have never saw that fight, Roy your a pussy. At the time Hopkins was still very young when Gman was decapitating people, he would have been walked down by Gerald who would have no reason to respect his power and would have either knocked Bernard out late or won a brutal decision. I love you Gerald!
Jackson, like so many other punchers could not take nearly as well as they gave. G M actually could. If you saw Jackson-McClellan you would know that Jackson actually stunned McClellan pretty bad in the first round.
i know what you mean but there fights were shootouts and g-man won both times in devestating fashion. im not saying jackson was a bitch, i know he could hit like a mule, and its actualy really close to say which one hit harder between the two. but if i had to say one then id go with gerald but i can understand someone saying jackson. he was a killer
McClellan had the much better chin, not the bigger punch.
Just because one guy knocked out another, it doesn't mean he was the harder puncher.
If that was the case....I guess Ali hit harder than Foreman, & Holyfield hit harder than Tyson , huh ?

julian jackson was extremly devestating but come on.......mcclellan knocked him out twice. the second ko came in the first round to. jackson has some of the most devestating one punch ko's you'll ever see but i gotta go with the G-man. wish he was still in the game today, imagine gerald and tito going at it

this is too hard to answer!! one because no one really ever saw the old time middles fight and punch. and two, cuz i just think that the old time middles were tough as hell. but who knows!!

There have been so many-Langford, Ketchel, Graziano, Mugabi, Jackson, although the last two were bigger punchers at 154 then middle. Good call on Valdez-that right hand was a bomb.
Eugene "Cyclone" Hart is one of the biggest punchers, lb4lb, in history.
He was your typical KO artist.....virtually no defense, chin, or stamina. He came out & winged bombs with ridiculous power....he either got you or you got him.
Julian Jackson ?
He's the best puncher, ever.....but was a little more devasating at 154 than at 160. But, he did crush Herol Graham with one of the sickest punches ever.
My vote is for Jackson.
You could take a bat to Haglers chin and he'd simply smile at you. Doesn't diminish Mugabi's power, imo.
Yoki, nice pick with Valdez. He could punch through a brick wall and would've ruled the middleweight division if it weren't for Monzon.
Thanks.
And in reality, I should've not only mentioned Briscoe's chin, but also that he was another middleweight who'd rank up there when the all-time hardest hitters are discussed for this division. He had dynamite in that left hook of his, and used it to both the head and body with great success.
Here's a few more big hitters in this division, who haven't been mentioned yet, but certainly have proven throughout their careers that they were more than capable of finishing an opponent with one well placed punch;
Florentino Fernandez, Tony Zale, Kid McCoy, Al Hostak, Eduardo Lausse, Cyclone Hart, and even guys like Carlos Monzon and Roy Jones (although both were known more for their skill, they certainly had proven knockout power in their hands).
There's been plenty of power that has come through this division in it's rich history.

Another middleweight who wouldn't have to take a back seat to any middleweight in history when it comes to the power in his overhand right, would be the tough Colombian, Rodrigo Valdez.
As evident by the fact he was the only fighter to ever knock out the iron chinned, 'Bad' Bennie Briscoe. Not to mention he was able to drop the iron chinned, Carlos Monzon, as well as hurting him on a few other occasions in their two fights.
Who did Ketchel beat? Philadelphia Jack O'Brien, one of the greatest lt. heavyweights of all-time, among others. Yes, he was amatuerish, sloppy, and incredibly wild, but he sure could punch. Possibly harder than any middleweight to ever live.
I'm not sure i can narrow it down to one. There were simply so many: Sam Langford, Stanley Ketchel, Bob Fitzsimmons, Ray Robinson, Julian Jackson, John Mugabi, etc. Not sure if i can just pick one. Perhaps as an overall puncher, i'd pick Ray Robinson. Unlike others, he combined crushing one-punch power, with speed, accuracy, precision, technique, and versatility.
john mugabi is a good choice , not an hall of famer but if i remeber well all his wins came by KO.
still hagler walked trough his powershots like he didnt care .

How about Bob Fitzimmons (or however it's spelled). He knocked out many heavyweights and I remember reading that he even killed some guy with one punch.
