i seen him fight byron mitchell and the ref stopped mitchell when he threw the last punch. i think he dropped calzaghe in that round too. he was taking alot of punishment but it looked like he had chin and was trying to use the lamon brewster/homer simpson style of fighting where the other guy connects every time but punches himself out in the process. anyway i thought it was ended way to early. calzaghe looked like a good quick lefty,he seemed like a volume puncher and a pressure fighter, but he doesn't seem like that big of a star, he's got the worthless wbo belt and if i were tarver or hopkins i would see no point in fighting him. johnson or lacy would be good opponents for him.
I'm extremely disappointed in Lacy. He was an overhyped fighter extremely in my opinion. That being said, I don't think Calzaghe is anything special. Lacy was just a poor fighter that many people exagerrated.
Did you watch that fight?
No one could have touched Joe that night.
His work rate alone makes him "special".

I'm not tryna bash him I think he's a good fighter but he's too talented to not have better challenges by now and from here on out. I know PPL will say nobody wanted to fight him but we all know if him and his team wanted to they could've made these fight's.
From BBC.co.uk today
"We talked to the guy who beat Howard Eastman and his management said yes, but then he turned down the fight."
Calzaghe was philosophical about the delay, saying: "I've been through it before.
"Maybe people are thinking twice after seeing my last performance against Jeff Lacy.
I think Calzaghe is very talented and has had a good career but I hear PPL on here bash Tarver and RJJ and even PBF about who they've fought and basically scrutinizing their moves. But to be 35 and to say Hall of famer's ducked and are scared of you but their bigger names in the sport and have better resumee's by far so like the younger and less experienced Lacy showed balls and fought him on his soil and gave credit in defeat. Why can't Calzaghe have done this by now? Even RJJ he fought several of the better fighter's of their era (Tarver,Hopkins,Tony,Johnson) so how come Calzaghe gets a pass, I'm not tryna bash him I think he's a good fighter but he's too talented to not have better challenges by now and from here on out. I know PPL will say nobody wanted to fight him but we all know if him and his team wanted to they could've made these fight's. They might have had to leave Europe for ppl who had bigger names but would be worth it to get his recognition and paydays. I'm just being honest if it was any other fighter that was talented and highly regarded they would have to have made bigger fight's by now otherwise they'd be talked about crazily. I hope he fights Johnson and not 1 of those Manfredo type fights I was hearing.

Laughing my dick off......
Jeff Lacy..Yeah he reallyt kicked ass..
Some people are full of shite..they only see the good points of fighters they like..
Then they open their big mouths and make a fool of themselves..
Classic..
Hang hang! Calzaghe wanted the big fights, and offer was made to Bernard Hopkins and all it needed was Hop`s signiture and he didn`t sign.
Calzaghe has never ducked anyone. They have avoided him.
As for the bullshit regarding Joe`s `weak` chin, that is a fairy tale. Robin Reid, Brewer and Mitchell tested it. Yes, Joe got caught and went down but he got straight back up and ended the fight seconds later. How the hell does a man with a bad chin get knocked down and then stops the guy a minute later. If Joe had been hurt he would have backed off. Thats like saying Muhammad Ali had a bad chin when he was floored by Brit Henry Cooper. for my money 37 fights unbeaten with one flash knock down does not consitute a bad chin.
Danny Green would not want to fight Joe and Lacy would sooner dive off the statue of liberty rather than fight Joe.
Realize that Joe is the real deal and if these payday hungry wanna bes were to fight him we`d all find out!
I just thought I'd dig up a few interesting threads. I guess you were right about this argument wer'nt you :D
Yeah I'm an aussie, and sometimes (Foolishly) let the old patriotic pride cloud my vision of the truth, but i think green will beat Calzhage, but hey your probably right about mundine, but i wouldn't underestimate mundine, after losing to siaca, he has been in blistering form.
he's been sparring with some good fighters here in aus.
G'Day Mate ! Been to Sydney a few years back. Must admit that you got one hell of a place there (esp. King's Cross, haha). A lot of talk has been goin around lately about the upcoming fight of your boy St. Claire against Manny in Dec. Would be interested on your take on this seemingly dangerous fighter from down under. How do you assess him?
