Toney
so when that fat blod toney beats one of these paper champs around like brewster or byrd or ruiz
he will have done the same thing roy did right?
middleweight that beat a heaveychamp
Toney won't win no title, his body can't pack the weight thus he's always injured
I think Hopkins entered his prime from 95 onwards
I think hop never faced a middleweight nearly as good as he was from 95 onwards, but we are both in the realm of opinions
Actually Roy didnt make B-Hop look that bad. Hopkins was never hurt in that fight and was always applying preasure, He was just outboxed by a prime Roy Jones. Hopkins had not entered his prime yet either. The truth of that fight was that it was boring as hell and if these guys fought again it would be even more boring because of the low output of punches these guys throw now.
you forgot to mention that hopkins was outboxed by a fighter who wsas using only his left hand for most of the fight
also, most ppl think roy jones prime is at 168 that fight happened at 160... I am joking what I wrote is just bs
just as hopkins not in his prime in 93 is bs!
how old was he? 28
did he ever lose a fight again? NO
was he ever embarassed again? NO
so when does his prime start? from the following fight?
simply he was beaten by a great unconventional fighter who happened to have a lot of movement, which is the only style that gives hop some slight problems, and punching from all angles, which does not help to.
More experience would have helped, maybe, but not that much bcos he would never have found someone to fight or to spar with, whose style was similar to roy jones (maybe hiring mosley as sparring partner would have done it, but give the size of shane at the time and the money he was making later this was not a possiblity)

Wow...that really makes Hopkins look bad. But he redeemed himself when he beat that guy Felix Trinidad..

i just posted a gif of him having fun with hop

Oh, okay. I was just going by what some of these posts said. :)
I thought Jones said he wasnt "hungry" anymore? I dont care one way or the other, I just thought after the Johnson fight that he said something about having lost that hunger, that drive, or something along those lines anyway. I also thought that once your heart just wasnt in it it's all but over.
watching his early fights, hes incredible. I saw him fight a british guy last year i think, and jones at one point did an impression of a chicken! Wel, i guess it was a rooster.
Alot of people here dont like him because of wat he says, i dont get to see all that, only his fights.
that was when he fought clinton woods who is from england. i love that part when jones does the "game rooster". he also said that the punch he knocked toney down with was a chicken move to.
wel, in jones's case i think its that, and the whole heavywiet fight he had. Im not tryin to make excuses for him, but anyone that saw the johnson fight saw a guy who looked like jones.
Either way, going back to the original point of this thread, he was amazing, and only got beat because he is finished.
For watever reason, he CANT do wat he could before.
I find it hard to believe that RJJ couldn't get up for a fight in which Tarver was making a complete fool of him. Apparently Roy's chin never came up with him from middle weight, but its not like that's a crime or anything.
Ive said it a million times, but I think the weight loss was the biggest factor. Jones just doesn't have the energy in the ring like he use to.
i hope he retires. he is only going to damage his legacy by losing to another journeyman. he should retire being content that he is the first middleweight in over 100 years to defeat a heavyweight champion. and not only did he beat Ruiz, he made him look likethe fool he is. I HATE RUIZ!
I remeber a fight he had. He had played in a semi pro basketball game a little earlier that day and flew to the arena where the fight took place. eveybody was saying stuff like "This could be very bad for Jones, hes got to be tired from the basketball game, etc etc." Jones was beating this guy like a drum the whole fight. About 2/3rds the way through the fight Jones would hurt his guy in about every round but the fucker would not go down.( I think Roy broke the guys eardrum twoards the end of the fight) Roy kept looking at the ref shrugging his shoulders gestering "are you going to stop it?" The ref didnt stop the fight and Roy was just punishing this guy. Roy realized that the ref wasn't going to stop the fight so roy just pitt patted for the remaining rounds so he didn't seriously hurt his opponent. To me that showed some class. I also think It showed that The real Roy has a heart of gold.

i don't think he'll return, Roy Jones is not a humble man, he had to say it like there's a chance he'll come back because he's not Ok with himself about going out of boxing because he has to and not because he'd done everything he wanted. He won't return, at least i hope not,
he was something really special - he's already in the boxing hall of fame, most guys have to retire first before they're in, and doesn't need to take any more punishment.
i dont think its worth the risk , he looked really hurt in that last fight. A fight he was expected to win easily.
Yeah your right, He talks like he probably will return though, I hope someone talks him out of it.
