So many people are complaining about a lack of talent in the hw division and that there is no true champion. IMO - I couldn't be more exited about the division.
It's a rare thing to have the division so open? When I think back, it was Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, Holmes and so on. We've been able to point the finger at one true champion for a long long time.
Despite all our different opinions of who is the best HW out there, it should be fun to see these guys duke it out for the top spot, or watch a new champion develope.
So I say to you, sit back, let things unfold, and enjoy it. It doesn't happen that often.
The HW division right now sucks. Its so boring to watch with a very low talent pool. Yes its an open division like the post starter stated but its open due to lack of talent its not like the WW division which is open but loaded with talent.
The last time it was great to be a heavyweight boxing fan was when Mike Tyson was in his prime. It was also a great time to be a boxing fan during the primes of Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes.
Any more questions? :boxing:
I think this gotta be like one of worst era in the heavyweight division if not the worst. I mean look at the so called champions, none of them possess greatness and potential to be among the best.
The heavyweight division is wretched.
I honestly could care less, who wins a fight among fighters above 168 as a matter of fact.
It is just "fun" to speculate. HW division is a freakshow, and the lightheavyweight division flat out sucks.
That Tarver/Johnson fight was a load of garbage if you ask me.
I agree.....
Vitali Klitschko-Robotic and quit against a fuckin Bird
Chris Byrd-Thinks he deserves all the money in the world but he reall aint shit and punches like a fuckin girl
Calvin Brock-Awesome combination punching and underrated power, but still to green, definately some potential though
James Toney-Former Middleweight Champion, the last thing we need is a blown up middleweight taking over the heavyweights
Samuel Peter-One dimensional overrated fighter
Wladimir Klitschko-Glass chin.....
Lamon Brewser-My boy and will take over the division hopefully
John Ruiz-The biggest bum to ever hold a title
Hasim Rahman-Overrated and only holds a win over Lennox Lewis and lost to a 41 year old Holyfield
Torino....you don't make sence LOL
I cant wait till the next batch of real fighters enters the Heavyweights because right now the division is so boring and the talent that does have the belt really isnt talented. This has to be the worst Heavyweight set of fighters I have seen all my life!
Vitali's best asset is his size, especially since majority of the other fighters are shorter and weigh a considerable amount less...However his backing up w/ his hands down is going to get to him...But I do believe he has a pretty good chin.....
Skillwise my vote goes to byrd, I realize a lot of other people dislike byrd but he is a pretty good champ and as a boxer byrd is complete, however I feel if he was w/ another promotion company he would shine a lot better.....Byrd has the balls the size of klitschko byrd has never ducked anyone and wants to fight everyone.....Chris and Vitali are the 2 top heavyweights right and need to finish their business....
Byrd will school McCline especially since he stated he doesnt want to brawl anymore and that was just a test and to show the public he can stand on a dime and trade w/ no trouble.....Since he is going to traditional byrd I see noone stopping him for a while....Unless he meets someone w/ tremendous power although noone in the division possesses this except vitali (maybe) and I think Jirov would be a threat to byrd but other than that unless Ike gets out of prison Byrd will be on top for a while next to Vitali.
Well 3 out 4 of vk last opponents LL,kj and dw outweighted him, he aint allways the heavyer.
Vk is actually the best trained of them.
Byrd is ducking wk.
But byrd will beat him if they ever fight again

Middle of the road
Middle weight and welterweight is were boxing is at now and has been at for the last few years. I don't see anything changing that soon. We need some better fighters and fights at the heavyweight division to bring my attention there again
I think this is about right...
When you start talking about Tua in the same sentence as Champion, things have gotten pretty bad.
I hope someone comes along pretty soon.
Yeah. When anybody gets excited about Tua, then we HAVE a problem!
Really, just look at the HW title holders today - Ruiz, Byrd, Brester, Vitali (never mind the contenders' list, you'll just get more depressed!) Except perhaps for Vitali, none of the present crop can create a stir larger than a drop of Eye-Mo in a pool. It's lifeless, boring, devoid of any excitement!
The last geat era had LL, Evander and Tyson. And they're practically all gone now. Do we see a new golden age in HW boxing? From where I sit, no. Not yet, anyway! :crying:

It's not a great time to be a Heavyweight boxing fan due to the half ass skill most of the fighters possess. Paying hard earned money to watch fighters hug, pitty-pat, and look clumsy all night long pisses me off. Thank god for de-scramblers.
Truthfullly, it will be like this for awhile and all that we can do as boxing fans is to be patient until a new heavyweight emerges and unifies all the belts....OR a current belt holder decides to stop dicking around and Unifies to become Undisputed. Currently, things are a god-awful mess.
If Golota actualy has his shit together this time, as it appeared he did against Byrd, he could add some much needed excitement to the division.
It is sad, though, that the most exciting prospects in the heavyweight division are a tempremental (emphasis on the "mental") over the hill Pole and a beefed up, big-mouthed middleweight.
Jirov could add some excitement, too, though I don't know if he could stand in amongst the really huge guys. It would be nice if he could.
I was trying to look at the division in a positive light. IMO - it would be fun to watch another Mike Tyson develope and dominate the division.
If you slow down your Hate and have one intelligent minute, read my post again. I never mentioned my preference of who I would like to come out on top.
Oh, I hear Paxil is good for your condition.
If you looked at things in an intelligent manner then you wouldn't ask dumbass questions like "Is this the greatest time to be a Heavyweight boxing fan?".

It might be more interesting if all the "belt" fought each other and unified the championship. Even though I am not impressed with any of them that at least would grab my attention. But since that isn't likely to happen I have to ageree that the division is as bad as I have seen it in 30 years of following boxing.
what kind of dumbass question is this?
I love your in love with Vitali and all but come on now. The division is as bad as its ever been.

i agree with pinkpanther. this is the WORST time to b a heavyweight fan. there seriously is not one good & exciting fighter in the division. on the other hand, it is the BEST time to b a fan of the middleweight division. Taylor, Hopkins, ODLH, Vargas, Quartey, Eastman, the list goes on.
The heavyweight divisioned revamped over night....It actually brings it back to the 70-80's
Duran
Hagler
Hearns
Leonard
we got
Hopkins
Taylor
Sturm
Trinidad
Im not listing the other guys because dlh looked mediocre and only draws off his name in the middleweight division and I have yet to see quartey/vargas in that division either.
However I do write Vargas off, I think he is finished.
