Hope he's still just a little dizzy:
Mayorga: I'm retired!
The always unpredictable Ricardo Mayorga has taken a page out of Tito Trinidad's book by retiring according a press report from Nicaragua. "I am not going to continue fighting," Mayorga told La Prensa. "I'm retired....I'm simply not continuing and have no need to continue. I have sufficient resources....The sacrifice is a lot and I have been fighting since I was 11 years old. So at 31 years of age, I seek peace." The pick here is that Mayorga's retirement is shorter in duration that Tito's.
But... why would I be talking about dogs, when the sentence includes "coming off the Trinidad loss"?
Gotcha..
Anyway, thaks for the memories Mayorga!!!!
If you are talking about the dogs, I do find it funny that the big one look's like it is ready to play, and the little one look's ready to kick some ass!!!:boxing:

It's six years old and coming off the Trinidad loss.

This has nothing to do with the topic, but I just saw the pic of the dogs in both you guys avi's and thought it was funny how drastic the drop off was...
On Topic: This does suck if true. Mayorga was one of my favorites.

mayo
i think he will be back in about a year,he is a great entertainer and i really think he can be a force in 154 or 147 if he can still make the welterweight limit..
What the hell happenend to all his tough talk?? He said he was going to put tito back in retirement and now hes going into retirement.
Hes a fuckin loser ne ways
HAHA THE POINT I WAS GOING TO MAKE...
it will annoy him too much if he lets tito retire him.
so hell be back no doubt..
it just wont be a rematch with felix "tito" trinidad :D
and i doubt hell ever show his chin like he did at the wknd
remember "i'll retire tito"? haha. now look who's retiring. but still, the man is one of the most exciting fighters around. and i hope he will not retire for good.... not yet.
hit it right on the head(i will come back to this)
...mayorga is kinda of a idiot just when they saw him...so many ppl became fans..he pulls this crap..dammit he was gona get good fights.
anyway what i ment is he has said he would only come back for a lot of money or..or vargas..they dont like each other and said he's always wanted to fight vargas..cuz he think cargas has heart and his hard-hitting just like him...
i say vargas take this as his 2nd or 3rd comeback fight and get f**ked the hell up
He always acted like a jerk before fights, but it was good for theatrics I guess. I didnt really like him before the fight but I did gain a lot of respect for him during the fight just for the way he was able to continue to fight and throw viscious bombs after taking that kind of punishment from Trinidad. I think that his ego is just bruised and he'll be back for at least 1 more fight. I think he'll fight Mosley after he looses to Winky again.
Mayorga was beaten properly for the first time in his career as a world class professional. I only half believe him when he says he is going to retire purely because he said after the fight that he had a bruised heart. Each fighter has there own ways of dealing with defeat and Mayorga is such a proud man that i cannot 100% see him walking away with a defeat as his last fight on his record. He is the kind of fighter who will want to end his career on a victory. Although if he does retire then i respect that completely as not enough fighters get out while they have there health intact.
Yeah, I guess it's Trinidad all over again. He retired after he got TKO by Hopkins (well actually he fought one more time after that, but it's close). So this may be the same case for Mayorga.
Mayorga s a compelling draw in fights, but he certainly doesn't need the money. As piss poor as the economy is in Nicaragua, even with Bush having driven the dollar to 30 year lows, Mayorga has Bill Gates kinda money in his native land. What's the need to come back and fight again, except, perhaps, to not end his career on a loss?
