this is so gay...i live in sanfrancisco..so fox showed the giants game..and i dont know if the aired the next great champ or not..then..THEN!...i go to boxrec and see its said griffin was eliminated?!!!..what happened..anyone watch it?
that one dude that looks like fernando vargas (scare in his face-latino)-if he stepped it up he could win..he hits hard and could be the fastest of them because of his small size...but who knows..we gotta wait and see
I like vallejo he is an under dog who I would like to see win, plus his confidence and attitude is pretty good...

I just don't see the winner of this crappy show getting a WBO Title shot right away. That's really not even fair to real boxers who have been at this game. These bums go on a reality show and get a WBO Title shot? No, boxing isn't corrupt, not at all. Oh well, they'll get exactly what they have coming to them if they actually get a real WBO Title shot. Any current WBO champ will destroy these guys within 2 rounds max.
I hope whoever wins has to fight Cotto. Anybody know what weights these guys are? I haven't seen it on the show, the weights. They all look to be between lightheavy and welter. Haven't heard of the LH WBO Champ, but then there is Calzaghe, Hopkins, Santos, Margarito, and Cotto.
Should be funny at least. Probably the winner will get the shot on HBO Latino. And of course Hopkins won't be fighting the winner...well...he did fight Hakkar though didn't he.
Each fighter has came from different weight classes
I know rene came from welter/zaragoza came from cruiser and pareija and others came from super middle to light heavy....The designated weight is light heavy although otis griffin and fred bachman easily look like they are 200 pounds.....
Their is a common misconception in the title shot that they are getting, it isnt against a big name boxer or anything like that it is for a regional wbo title not the recognized one in each weightclass but just a regional title and wbo has tons of regional titles.....Hope this helps a bit.

i hate that white boy dave.. it looks like hes just a wanna be .. i never seen shadow boxing so pitifull.. all theses guys suck .. the contender is suppposed to be alot better. i heard that they gone see whatnext great champ does then make theres better in everyway
That guy Otis was exposed.
I got the sense (I never catch the whole show) that he was the guy who the others looked to avoid.
After seeing him fight like he did...wow, what a chump.
The guy who beat him, was just a little less a chump than he.
If there was a really good fighter among that bunch...it would be unfair. He'd demolish all of them.
Makes you wonder how Stallone's show & how his fighetrs will be.
Otis looked crummy in the ring then after he lost his sister and him were being total cry babies about it. I hope ne never comes back on the show, or if he does, its to fight Fred to see who gets to stay in the house. That would be cool.
I hop Rene gets KOed. Hes a punk ass for picking Mence to fihgt this week when he was sick. Mince should knock his punk ass out now. Rene also has a bad attitude. I cant figure out who I hate more now, Rene or the jail guy who won the competition.

Big, Bad Otis
He lost to Jimmy, who happened to be sick, and was chosen by the previous winners. Otis wasn't a good boxer at all, he had a few decent shots, but has no real skill.
wait never mind got it for everyone:
One of the most built up contestants on the boxing reality show “The Next Great Champ” was beaten and eliminated from the competition tonight. Otis “Triple O.G.” Griffin was taken out by the most experienced professional on the show, Jimmy “Marvelous” Mince, who is 4-0 with 4 KOs. The fight went the four round distance resulting in a split decision. One judge scored every round for Griffin, but the others had it 39-37 for Mince.
The show focused on Griffin and Mince from the start. It showed Griffin buried in a bible portraying him as a man deeply devoted to his faith. Also, an angry side of Griffin was seen where he is known to have trouble controlling his anger. At one point he and Fred “Boom Boom” Bachmann exchanged words in a very heated conversation. Griffin threatened to knock his head off and Bachmann responded letting him know he was not scared of him. Later Bachmann was seen talking to members of the show staff telling them he did not feel safe. He then left to contemplate if he will remain on the show.
Mince did very poorly in the first two of the weekly competitions, but won the third. He was unable to participate this time because he was feeling sick. He said he was week and had trouble catching his breath. He may have had some type of bacterial virus.
Gil “The General” Zaragoza also received some attention. He knew that if he did not win the competition this week, the members of the winner’s circle would choose for him to fight for survival. If he had to fight, Zaragoza wanted to fight for $25,000 instead of just his survival.
The competition was one to test body conditioning. The contestants had to shovel sand into a bag and run it a certain distance to a barrel resting on the end of a seesaw offset by a counter weight. If they could fill up enough of the bucket so that it touched the ground, they would win $10,000 and be ranked #1 for the week. Griffin put up a good showing, but Zaragoza was the winner.
Oscar De La Hoya, Lou Duva and Tommy Brooks chose Griffin as the #2 ranked contender. Due to the shrinking amount of contestants, nobody else was ranked. The winner’s circle, made up of those who have won their matches in past shows, had to choose the lowest ranked fighter who would be getting in the ring just to survive.
Previous winners, David “Danger” Pareja, Bachmann and Rene “Lone Star” Armijo Jr. ended up selecting the ailing Mince. Then the trainers chose his opponent who ended up being Griffin.
Each had their moments in the fight. Griffin landed some good shots, especially to the body, but often missed lunging punches from a distance. Mince used his experience and found the openings in Griffin’s suspect defense.
The fights are not shown in their entirety, so they are impossible to score at home. One judge saw it 40-36 for Griffin and the others saw Mince take it 39-37. Griffin was sure he had won the fight and felt robbed of $25,000 and his right to be on the show.
The teaser for the next episode, which takes place Friday October 22, implied that Griffin might find his way back on the show somehow. It also left open the fate of Bachmann.
