Threading through the action, before, during and sometimes,AFTER many fights, is boxing talk! Seldom can one find better lines written or spoken in any other sport! MLB, NBA, NHL, NFL...only have tea party conversations compared to boxing! :D The ones one reads on this site illustrates the point. ;)Besides, on those times when we don't get good matches, the talk can get us pretty occupied... :D
To me boxing is a microcosm of life. You can watch a fighter for 30 minutes and know more about the way that person is wired than your best friend.
For 30 minutes there is no team, there is no mulligan, there are no excuses. Your mistakes cost you dearly, your victories are as satisfying as it gets. There is no other sport like it.
Also: It should be noted I don't like anything before the first bell or anything after the last bell. That's the part of boxing that is killing it.
Man boxing is the shit because you can disect it imitate it and become great at it... But before all that you have to dedicate yourself to something on an entirely different spectrum then any other sport.. I love boxing because its me v him and the only help is myself and a bell>
Boxing is a craft an art you should be able to recieve degrees for the shit... cuz amazing shit really does happen.. Boxing is a sport of chance.. skill... and refelxes... a reflex is an instance and in a instance BANG can happen.. Only those who captilize on those instances often are consider great, those who dont sub-par.. boxing is a sport of determanation.. its jus the shit
because when i watch a fight i know i'm a fan of a fighter cuz no matter who it is i'm scared they are going to get ko'd,i hate when my fighters lose,no sport does that for me except boxing
Boxing seperates the men from the boys!
There is nothing i love more than watching a wanna be hard man come to the gym, get beaten up and never come back. :D
Oh yeah, boxing is also the most exciting and unpredictable sport to watch.
I love boxing because its like a modern day version of the Gladiators of the old Roman Empire.
Two warriors battling it out though not to the death, to claim supremacy over his opponents. The Crowds watch every movement of the fighters and their breathing slows and speeds up in relation. When another loved fighter has the other fighter in trouble the crowd cheers and gets noiser and nosier... encouraging their man to finish his opponent off, When the fighter succeeds the crowd goes wild and cheers of nationality for some and of name for others come roaring in.
There is art, skill, conditioning, speed, and power all of which play a part in their role as fighters.. switch their gloves for swords and they are basically gladiators!
Some fighters fight for the Glory, other play it safe and pick up their check.
The fact of how skill and blood and guts mix together masterfully. I dont think there's anything on the planet that can mix artwork & brutality, and make a masterpiece.
It's one of the only sports where it's one on one, man to man, (Or Woman to Woman).
and the mere fact you can be getting your ass kicked the whole entire fight and still win in the dying seconds is unreal, there is no team sport like that.
If you play in a team and you are getting thrashed all game and then with thirty seconds to go you play awsome, you will still lose.
But if you are getting an ass whoopin in boxing you can still KO the guy in the last round and win, so that in itself is great.
My Reason
When Boxing is at its best no other sports touchs it. It should be one of the most popular sports, the fact people like sports like Golf instead disgusts me. Boxing is by far the toughest and most excitng sport, everything is on the line each fight. In any other sports if your down by alot chances are you are going yo lose but in Boxing one good punch and you could win. I like Basketball to but it not a sport you can talk that much about, unlike Boxing where there is always somthing to talk about. I love Boxing
I love it for so many reasons, but it has to be the one Yoko said, two guys and all eyes on them showing us everything they have, their heart and their guts all for the world to see.
nothing compares to it, tennis is the same.
Another thing is that anything can happen it only takes one clean punch to turn a dominated fighter into a winner.
That is what keeps me on the edge of my seat and that is why i love boxing :)
I guess I love boxing for all of the same reasons as you guys but especially because of the amazing characters that I have been honored to learn about.
My life would have been an emptier place without the Greatest being a part of it. He made me laugh, made me believe in miracles and inspired me to stand up for what I believe.
There are so many more who had a strong influence on me. Who could not be moved by the stories we have heard about "Schoolboy" Bobby Chacon, Jake LaMotta, Jack Johnson.......the list is immense.
The image of Big George Foreman waving the flag proudly after other members of his Olympic boxing team had raised the Black Power salute in protest of the treatmnt blacks endured at the time. Good points made from both sides.
Dramatic moments that no screenwriter could imagine. Stories of courage and perseverance that left me in awe.
And all of it done by an individual........no teamates to blame for failure...glory or shame shouldered by one person.
There is nothing else like it.
man you might wanna go to your doctor and get that checked out
i love boxing to
but god damn
it aint cocaine
lol
Yeah, I thought there was something wrong with me!!! :D I just love the sport!!!
Good question, big daddy. Here's my answer.
You've got yourself and the other guy and that's it. No team to fall back on or to blame. If you lose, its your fault alone. If you win, the victory is all yours. Boxers are among the greatest athletes on the planent. No fat assed lineman or lazy baseball player could hold a candle to a pro boxer in terms of athletecism. Any sport that is comprised of only one participant each, is, in my opinion, above other sports. Sure there's something to be said for teamwork and making great things happen becuase 11 people worked together or whatever, and that's all well and good, but in the trenches is where it counts. Boxing, Wrestling (the real wrestling), Martial arts, Kickboxing, Track and field, triathlon, and hell, even tennis and golf rate higher for me than team sports, because whatever happens, happens becuase of you and no one else. Unless you get drugged like Wlad did. But that's foul play. (What? Foul play in boxing??? Never!!)
