just heard a radio broadcast sayin that naz will be returning to the ring early 2005, will he be returning to his own weight or coming back at a higher one..... because what can he do in the divisions including manny MAB morales, marquez ???
i think he will have a lot of problems no matter what weight he decides to make his come back into
if he does come back he is going to have to drop the ego and admit that if he isnt the best, he still has talent, it would win the true boxing fan over more anyway
less of the show boating, more serious boxing.... what do you lot thik ???
I can't say that Naz was the lower weight's equivalent of Roy Jones. Roy dominated three weight categories and faced/ defeated a Hopkins and every pretender in those weight classes worth his time. Naz met only one world-class beater (the others he faced were way passst their prime and were matched with Naz for that obvious reason, including Medina who was beaten twice by Luisito Espinosa), then quit. One can argue til the Second Coming (of course, not of Naz) about what could have been had The Prince picked himself up after his defeat in the hands of Barrera. Yes, he may/could have shown the world the kind of stuff he had. But all he has managed to show by quiting is the kind of man he is.
While I consider myself a fan of Roy, I am uncomfortable with his choice of opponent in Johnson for his post-first-loss appearance. He should have done what Tito is doing: meeting a Mayorga for his comeback fight. We've heard the wise counsel: "Pick yourself up where you've fallen". While Tito, admitedly, is not EXACTLY doing that because he is not facing Hopkins, he comes closest; Jones and many other top fighters appear to consider themselves special exceptions. JMMarquez decided to meet Salido instead of Pacquiao after a draw. :( Is it because they're smarter? After Mando Ramos lost to Teo Cruz in a lightweight championship match, his next opponent was the same Teo Cruz! How many times did Pep and Saddler meet without facing bums between meetings? Louis-Schmelling!?! Raging Bull-Robinson? Ahh, those were the days! :( ;)
 Tell me you didn't just compare Nassim Hamed against Roy Jones
I was comparing him to Roy Jones talent wise. Naseem in the lower weight division had unbelievable skills just like Roy. He had natural talent 100% and thats why i compared him to Roy because he had a very unique style.
what tha hell he quit cuz of one loss?
losing is part of tha sport and to be a great champ u gotta accept u lost and thats when u learn from it
It's the way he lost that hurt him. He got wooped, prolly won 1 round. When all yer career you think you are the best and then one day someone flat out proves you wrong in your face, it's hard to swallow.
Yeah Naz can box and he did it very well. He was a world class fighter who fought at domestic level too long like most British fighters. He was unique and brought something different to the ring. He could hold his hands down and weave in front of you. He was the Roy Jones of the lower weight divisions talent wise. Nate Campbell tried his own showboating by keeping his hands down and what happened to him??? :D He got put on his ass and counted out, normal fighters can't do stuff like that. I still laugh when i think of poor old Nate Campbell, what a fool.
 Tell me you didn't just compare Nassim Hamed against Roy Jones
Yeah, what a fool indeed! Add to that his amazing nickname......."The Galaxy Warrior" ;)
just imagine the KD again, then his nickname...bwahahaha LOL :D
:D Yeah, the sad thing about Nate is that he has talent and then he does a dumb thing like that. I cannot understand some fighters at all.
i want to see him do good aswell mate, he's the only british hope in the heavyweights, and no im not counting danny williams as a hope, he's going to get his lesson taught to him when he meets VK
i dont trust his chin either but i do believe in his ability, he may be a boaring fighter but he does control the pace of fights well, i think that he will step it up this coming year, if he doesnt then......
he can remain fighting on bbc
:) Do you know what, i really hope Danny Williams causes another upset and beats Vitali. It could happen, who gave him a chance against Tyson? Very few people did, Danny gets himself motivated when it counts. He is another British boxer who got stuck in a time warp or something, he never seemed to get completely motivated for fights until Tyson.
I hope Audley steps up his fighting, he has got ability i agree but not on a spectacular level. However saying that i think his skills in a year or so will enable him to be able to compete with our World Chmapions such as Lamon Brewster and John Ruiz.

i totally agree with you there, i personally loved naz, well, loved to watch him box, didnt like the ego or the entrances
joe calzaghe will be folowing the same suit, ricky hatton and scott harrison
i wouild mention audley harrison, but its a waste of energy typing in anything about him
Do you know what? It's sad to admit as a Englishman but your right, i can see all of our fighters coming short when it counts because of been drowned in domestic experience too long.
:D By the way it is a waste of energy talking about Audley at the moment but i do hope he does do well but i cannot see it at the moment. I don't trust his chin.

the reason british fighters generally box on a domestic level is because american promoters dont want some of them, if scott harrison was mexican he would probably be pushing for his own PPV fights now
instead they stay at home and get no credit for doing so, when they do fight else where they get a shock infront of an away crowd and get a shock against a world class opponent like naseem did against barrera
Too true and it's a shame, we have some good talent in the UK. I have a feeling the same will happen to the likes of Ricky when he finally steps up. It was sad to see Naz get beaten by Barrera because he beat him mentally and that was the worst way to see Naz lose. I don't know why some American promoters don't sign up our good talent.

Nas can box??? ....at the same level as Marquez, Morales, Pacman and Barrera???
you really miss his circus entrances and leopard trunks ;)

If he was a smart business man, then he would still be fighting, if he looses the fights fair enough, he would not be as highly looked upon as once upon a time, however from a business point of view, a comeback fight against a no one and then maybe even one against chi, marquez or pac would earn him some serious money
does anyone know what type of money he was getting for his fights ???? was he on more or less than barrera for their clash
As much as I hope Naz comes back to spice up an already lively featherweight division, I just dont see it happening. Prince was very entertaining but he was also very smart as a bussiness man- when he looks at this featherweight division and sees that it has only gotten better since he checked out, well I think it will be an easy decision...
i wanna see naseem hamed vs willie jorrin and watch nas get a taste of tha canvas cuz jorrin will knock his ass out
it would be a good fight for both of them
...if I'm not mistaken, you're the guy who trains with Jorrin, right? Naseem against Jorrin at 130 for his 1st serious fight after a long lay-off? hmmmm, sounds interesting...fantasy fight LOL :D
