According to strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune, eight division champion Manny Pacquiao has trained for the fight of his life.

The 39-year-old veteran will challenger World Boxing Association "regular" welterweight champ Lucas Matthysse on July 15th [July 14 in America] at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

Pacquiao is hoping to keep his career going, as the Filipino superstar is coming off a twelve round unanimous decision loss to Jeff Horn from July 2017 at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.

Fortune notes that Pacquiao will be looking to create fireworks for the local fans.

“Those phase of the training program will give Manny a clear mind and strong body designed to help him fight a good fight and give boxing fans the fight they like,” Fortune told The Manila Times.

“We all know Manny. When he fights, he always think of the fans, how to make them enjoy and happy.

One of the scenarios that Pacquiao is well known for - is overtraining.

This time around, Fortune took several measures to ensure that Pacquiao would not overtrain. And Pacquiao, who loves to train in camp, made several attempts - that were blocked - to take part in additional training sessions.

“We in the training team, Buboy (chief trainer Buboy Fernandez), Nonoy (Neri) and Haplas (Roger Fernandez), have given him enough resting time the past two weeks in the camp. We even cancelled few training sessions for him to get ready to endure this last portion of the program,” Fortune said.

“In the same manner that we didn’t consent to his requests for additional rounds in sparring and other gym activities, which he is prone to do, precisely make those watching him train enjoy.

“ We will be doing practically nothing a week before the fight except a few light workouts from Monday to Wednesday. We’ll be reviewing our game plan and amending them instead, if needed."
