WBA/IBO/WBC interim-middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs) says he'd be thrilled and honored to fight in Mexico. Golovkin recent visited the country to get officially belted by the World Boxing Council.

The boxer who headlined an event called "Mexican Style" earlier this year with a blowout of Marco Antonio Rubio, would have no problem topping an event in Mexico against country superstars Julio César Chávez Jr. and  Saul “Canelo” Álvarez.

Golovkin returns in February against WBC silver champion Martin Murray. Should Golovkin prevail, he is guaranteed a shot at the full WBC championship, which is currently held by Miguel Cotto. There are talks that Cotto and Canelo will face each other in May.

"I like how Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto fights. He's a great and a worthy champion,” Golovkin said.
