Michal Cieslak (9-0, 5 KOs), the newest addition to the Polish pool of talents in the cruiserweight division, shone brightly this past Saturday as he crushed through Finnish challenger Jarno Rosberg (18-2-1, 8 KOs) in less than two minutes to acquire a vacant Polish Youth International 200lb title in the main event of the show, co-promoted by Tomasz Babilonski of Babilon Promotions and Andrzej Wasilewski / Piotr Werner of Knockout Promotions in Miedzyzdroje, Poland.
Cieslak, 26, dropped Rosberg with a hard left hook at the ropes. Rosberg was up at the count of nine but Cieslak used his right hands to get the job done at 1:46 of the opener. Rosberg was stopped just once before – in four rounds by future WBC heavyweight title challenger Johann Duhaupas of France.
In a co-main event, soft-punching but smooth-boxing Polish middleweight Kamil Szeremeta (11-0, 1 KO) defeated Kazakh-born German Arthur Hermann (16-2, 13 KOs).
Szeremeta used his pressure and workrate to shut Hermann in the opening rounds. Szeremeta was also dominant in the midst of the fight but Hermann fought it to the end and, despite a swollen eye, finished the bout rather strong. Nevertheless, Szeremeta was triumphant with the scores: 99-91, 99-93 and 97-93.
On the same card, 40-year old super middleweight Tomasz Gargula (17-0-1, 5 KOs) got the better of compatriot Sebastyan Skrypczynski (11-11-2, 5 KOs) over six rounds. Gargula dropped his foe in round two en route to a unanimous decision with the scores: 60-53, 59-54 and 58-55.
An interesting fact is that Gargula was fighting just for the second time after an 11-year long layoff.
Also, former Ukrainian light middleweight champion Artem Karpets (21-0, 6 KOs), who fought exclusively in Donetsk before, got his second win in Poland with a lopsided decision over journeyman Lukasz Janik (not to be confused with the cruiserweight contender of the very same name). Scores were 60-54 across the boards. Janik is now 14-13-2, 8 KOs.
Other results:
- Piotr Gudel (3-1-1) D 8 Mark Vidal (4-1-4, 1 KO). Vidal was down in round three.
- Jacek Wylezol (13-10, 8 KOs) MD 6 Tomasz Krol (1-1-1, 1 KO)
- Mykola Wowk (2-0, 2 KOs) TKO 1 Andrzej Andrasik (0-4)
