Christina Linardatou: record, next fight and profile →
Mikaela Mayer Final Press Conference Photos Gallery - Undefeated British knockout artist Joe Joyce and former unified junior lightweight champion Mikaela Mayer are set to co-headline an action-packed card this Saturday at Copper Box Arena in London.
There is no longer any fight that will bring back Mikaela Mayer to the junior lightweight division. Not even ‘that one.’
Former unified super featherweight champion Mikaela Mayer is aiming to secure a mandatory showdown with Katie Taylor, who is currently the undisputed champion at 135-pounds.
Mikaela Mayer is coming back to the U.K. for the second time in a row. The former unified junior lightweight champion will make her lightweight debut against former two-time junior welterweight world champion Christina “Medusa” Linardatou on Saturday, April 15, at Copper Box Arena in London.
Mikaela Mayer has not given up in her quest to run it back with Alycia Baumgardner. Her first step towards fulfilling that goal is a meeting with the only fighter to hang a loss on the reigning unified junior lightweight champion.
Chantelle Cameron is due to begin 2023 with a mandatory title defense to follow her 2022 Fighter of the Year-level campaign. When and where it will take place depends on which promoter will get to stage the bout—if it happens at all.
Mikaela Mayer will continue to do whatever possible to secure a rematch with division rival Alycia Baumgardner. Back in October, Baumgardner won a tough ten round split decision over Mayer to unify the WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO titles at the O2 Arena in London.
Terri Harper’s world title unification fight faces being pushed back after the WBC super featherweight was told she was needed surgery on her right hand. Eddie Hearn wants to involve Harper in a unification tournament, after signing two other world champions in the division, while he also has similar plans for Chantelle Cameron, whom he wants to clean up the super-lightweight division in three fights before setting up a potential fight with Katie Taylor, the undisputed world lightweight champion.
