Christopher Guerrero remains in search of his first knockout victory.

For now, a perfect record will have to do for the 21-year-old welterweight prospect, who soundly outpointed Mexico’s Jose Avila over four rounds. Judges Sylvain Leblanc (40-35), Erick Philippeaux (40-35) and Benoit Roussel (40-35) all scored every round for Guerrero in the opening bout of a seven-fight ESPN+ livestream Friday evening from Montreal Casino in Montreal, Canada.

Guerrero (4-0, 0KOs) seemed on his way to an early night, flooring Avila (2-2, 2KOs) courtesy of a right hand in round two. Avila beat the count and proved a tough nut to crack for Guerrero, who relocated from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to Montreal where he now lives and trains.

Avery Martin-Duval survived his toughest test to date, grinding out a six-round, unanimous decision win over Argentina’s Matias Ezequil Guenemil in their junior lightweight contest. Scores were 58-56, 58-56 and 59-55 in favor of Montreal’s Martin Duval (8-0-1, 4KOs), who was briefly rocked in rounds three and outmuscled in rounds four and five before outboxing the visiting Guenemil (9-3-1, 5KOs) in the final round to secure the win.

Leila Beaudoin was forced to put in work to preserve her unblemished record as she outpointed Chimalhuacan, Mexico’s Karla Ramos (9-9, 2KOs) over six rounds. All three judges scored the contest 58-56 in favor of Beaudoin (7-0, 1KOs), a 26-year-old rising junior lightweight prospect from Levis, roughly two-and-a-half hours from Montreal.

Luis Santana advances to 7-0 (2KOs) with a six-round shutout of Argnetina’s Cristian Rodrigo Gonzalez (11-15-1, 6KOs). Judges Erick Philippeaux (60-54), Benoit Roussel (60-54) and David Therien (60-54) all scored every round in favor of Montreal’s Santana, who celebrates his third win of 2022 as he approaches his two-year anniversary in the pro ranks.

Headlining the show, unbeaten super middleweight Christian Mbilli—a quarterfinalist for France in the 2016 Rio Olympics—faces Toledo-based divisional trialhorse DeAndre Ware (15-3-2, 9KOs) in a scheduled ten-round regional title fight.

Also on the card is a battle of past Olympians in a scheduled ten-round heavyweight battle between Simon Kean (22-1, 21KOs)—who represented Canada in 2012 London— and 36-year-old Newfel Ouatah (18-4, 10KOs), a 2008 Olympian for France who ends a 15-month inactive stretch in returning to the ring.
