Suffering the first knockdown of his career off a right hand in round three, 24-year old Jermell Charlo (24-0, 11 KO), 153 ¾, of Houston, Texas, rose easily and boxed his way to a lopsided unanimous decision over twelve rounds against 32-year old New Yorker Charlie Ohta (24-2-1, 16 KO), 153, fighting out of Hachioji, Japan. Charlo had some issues with low blows in the fight, losing a point in round nine, but his work upstairs was more than enough. Ohta left the evening with a swollen left eye. Charlo left with his hand raised by scores of 115-111 and 118-109 twice over.

Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada - Rising light heavyweight contender Eleider Alvarez (15-0, 8KO’s) won a ten round unanimous decision over Alexander Johnson (15-2, 6KO’s). All three judges saw it 97-92. The fight was fought at a slow pace for the most part. Alvarez scored a knockdown in the fifth, but didn't do much to follow-up. Alvarez outboxed Johnson the rest of the way with little to no resistance.

Louis Cruz (5-0) vs Bryan Acaba (3-4) - Cruz continued his winning streak in easy fashion over the very tough Bryan Acaba. Cruz contolloed the action in the 1st round keeping Acaba at bay with his boxing ability. In the 2nd he staggered Acaba with the uppercut but Acaba did not go down, even though it could have been ruled that way since he was held up by the ropes. Cruz continued his assault until he finally knocked him out on his feet with a nasty right hand at the 1:24 mark of round 2.
