Editor's Note: While the fight was announced in the welterweight division, it took place at the junior welterweight limit of 140.

Former junior middleweight world titleholder Carlos Molina continued his winning run with an eight round unanimous decision over Carlos Gorham in a welterweight clash. All three judges scored it 80-72 as Molina simply used his skills to outbox Gorham (16-4, 10KOs) with few issues.

The bout took place at the Centro de Convenciones in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. Televisa aired the fight card throughout Mexico.

Molina (27-6-2, 8 KOs) is coming off a close split decision win over Javier Prieto in his last bout on June 18.

He has won his last four bouts since losing the IBF junior middleweight title to Cornelius Bundrage in October of 2014.

Molina has wins over Ishe Smith, Cory Spinks, and Kermit Cintron. He fought to a draw against Erislandy Lara in March of 2011, a fight many believe Molina did enough to win.

Gorham was coming off a knockout win over Fernando Carcamo in the 10th round on July 2. The 27-year-old Gorham had won his last nine bouts.

In the other televised bout, lightweight Marcos Villasana (20-6, 11 KOs), who has won his last four bouts in a row, got a disqualification win over unbeaten, yet untested Rosekie Cristobal (12-1, 9 KOs) of the Philippines. The referee gave him the DQ nod in the tenth round over repeated low blows.
