Carlos Jackson: record, next fight and profile →

Lightweights Jonny Mansour and Christian Avalos came in under the lightweight limit ahead of their main event Thursday at the Avalon in Hollywood, California.

It was supposed to be the start of a road forward for Carlos Jackson. However, on Saturday in Orlando, he was reminded of the dangers of thinking too far ahead.

Two months after signing with Main Events, junior featherweight Carlos Jackson will have his first opportunity to fight underneath the promoter’s banner.

Main Events announced they have signed Carlos “King Dynamite” Jackson (20-1, 13 KOs) from Atlanta, Georgia, to a multi-fight contract. The super bantamweight was born in Alabama and now resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

Jonathan Guzman saw his career hit yet another bump in the road. An all-Dominican battle saw Atlanta-based Carlos Jackson prevail in a disputed split decision win over Santo Domingo’s Guzman over eight rounds Saturday evening at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Judge Martha Tremblay (77-75) saw Guzman as the winner, overruled by judges John Porturaj (78-74) and Robert Perez (77-75) who awarded Jackson for his constant come-forward style in their ESPN+ aired preliminary bout.

Headlining the show, former title challenger Jose Zepeda faces streaking prospect Josue Vargas in a scheduled ten-round contest. Both boxers were well under the junior welterweight limit for Saturday’s main event, which airs live on ESPN+ from Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater in New York City.

Jose Pedraza and Mikkel LesPierre have literally been here before. This time around, they hope to make it beyond the scale and into the ring. For the second time in two weeks, both boxers made weight for a scheduled ESPN headliner. The two are scheduled to collide atop a six-fight card, which takes place Thursday evening at MGM Grand Conference Center (“The Bubble”) in Las Vegas beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT.

Jose Pedraza and Mikkel LesPierre will give it another shot. The junior welterweights will face off in the 10-round main event Thursday, July 2 from the MGM Grand Conference Center—Grand Ballroom. Pedraza-LesPierre was originally scheduled for June 18, but the bout was postponed after LesPierre’s manager tested positive for COVID-19.
