Edgar Berlanga will return to familiar territory for his next fight. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Berlanga’s forthcoming clash versus Belfast’s Padraig McCrory will land at Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida. The bout between unbeaten super middleweights will headline a February 24 DAZN show, as previously reported by Boxing Scene senior writer Keith Idec.
SSE Arena, Belfast - For the WBO European super lightweight title, Sean McComb (18-1, 5 KOs) dominated Sam Maxwell (17-3, 11 KOs) over ten rounds of action for a wide unanimous decision.
Michael Conlan has the benefit of a familiar backdrop for his first fight at a higher weight. The former two-time challenger appeared fighting fit at a career heaviest 129 ½ pounds for his junior lightweight debut. He will face England’s Jordan Gill, who followed Conlan up the scale from featherweight and was also 129 ½ pounds. The two will meet in a scheduled twelve-round contest Saturday evening on DAZN from The SSE Arena in Conlan’s hometown of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Matchroom Boxing will present the eight-fight card in association with Conlan Boxing.
Newcastle - After a double quick debut last month, Cameron Vuong (2-0, 1 KO) got a real introduction to professional boxing from the unorthodox and awkward John Henry Mosquera (5-5, 1 KO).
Shabaz Masoud and Jose Sanmartin have once again made weight for their crossroads bout. Both boxers were under the 122-pound junior featherweight limit ahead of their DAZN-aired main event this Saturday from Utilita Arena in Newcastle, England. Masoud was a slim and trim 121.7 pounds, nearly identical to his weight of 120.8 pounds on October 20—one day ahead of their originally planned October 21 clash in Manchester. Colombia’s Sanmartin was a stunningly light 120.2 pounds, nearly two pounds lighter than when he had to strip to get down to 122 three weeks ago when he thought there was going to be a fight that weekend.
Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington will contest the WBA featherweight title later this evening but the action got underway early in Sheffield, England.
IBF International heavyweight champion Kem Ljungquist (15-0) defends the title on October 7 at the Arena Naestved in Naestved (Denmark) against South African veteran Johnny Muller (23-10-2) on a show staged by Kem Ljungquist Promotion.
