Gavin Gwynne and Cameron Vuong are just days away from meeting on the undercard of the WBC interim flyweight title fight between Sunny Edwards and Galal Yafai in Birmingham.

Cameron Vuong is preparing to turn what many see as an ambitious step up in class into a showcase when he fights former British, Commonwealth and European lightweight titleholder Gavin Gwynne on November 30.

Most people will class the upcoming fight between former British, Commonwealth and European lightweight titleholder Gavin Gwynne and the talented but unproven Cameron Vuong as a classic battle of youth versus experience.

Cameron Vuong has been touted as one of British boxing’s future stars since before he made his debut last October. Now he is relishing the attention – and the pressure – that comes with it.

The highly regarded Cameron Vuong likely impressed the onlooking Turki Alalshikh with a typically flashy display atop a quirky three-fight show that followed the Daniel Dubois-Anthony Joshua public workouts in London.

Cameron Vuong will have woken up on Sunday morning knowing that he had been in a fight.

Cameron Vuong was given the toughest test of his young career by late substitute Jeff Ofori on Saturday at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, England, but he emerged with his unbeaten record intact.

It all started in London with an in-ring confrontation at the O2 Indigo in February. A couple of weeks later, Cameron Vuong and Jordan Flynn went nose-to-nose again at the press conference to officially announce their fight.

Super featherweight prospect Jordan Flynn had been due to face the swift fists of Cameron Vuong but instead was faced with late-replacement Tampela Maharusi, from Tanzania, and Flynn notched a successful six-round win by 59 points to 54.

Cameron Vuong remained perfect in his young career and is already set for his next fight. The first-year pro enjoyed a one-sided, sixth-round stoppage of a reluctant Ishmael Ellis. Vuong was scheduled for his first scheduled eight-round bout, but Ellis’ lack of effort forced referee Bob Alexander to stop the contest at 2:36 of the sixth round Saturday on DAZN from Indigo at The O2 in London.
