DUBLIN, Ireland — Aaron McKenna and Etinosa Oliha were both under the middleweight limit ahead of their IBF title fight tomorrow here in Dublin.

Heavy-punching Callum Johnson wanted one last shot at the big time, but his return has been derailed.

“He’s getting weaker, Joe. I can feel him getting weaker.” Callum Johnson was on the verge of a terrific upset. The heavy-handed former light heavyweight, from Boston, England, had tasted the canvas in round one, but had dropped brilliant Russian Artur Beterbiev in stunning fashion with a second round left hook.

Callum Johnson, a former light heavyweight contender, is now the WBO’s No. 4 cruiserweight. The 38-year-old banger might not be far off the title opportunity he seeks.

Joe Gallagher is best-known for his corner work but this weekend (Saturday, May 11) turns promoter to get several of his fighters out.

Eddie Hearn expects Callum Smith to catch Artur Beterbiev with the type of left hook that will finally leave the hard-hitting Russian on the wrong end of a knockout Saturday night.

Callum Johnson (20-1, 14 KOs), 37-years-old, is coming out of retirement for one final run. And this time around, Johnson will attempt to find success in the cruiserweight division. Johnson has been out of the ring since October of 2021, when he picked up a ten round majority decision win over Server Emurlaev.

Callum Johnson’s advice for Anthony Yarde is to be aggressive against Artur Beterbiev early in their fight. Otherwise, the retired light heavyweight contender believes Beterbiev will treat Yarde like most of the opponents who’ve shown a reluctance to engage with the Russian knockout artist. Nevertheless, even if Yarde has some success early versus Beterbiev, Johnson doesn’t think his countryman is capable of pulling off what would be a huge upset Saturday night at OVO Arena Wembley in London.

Retired light heavyweight Callum Johnson is very familiar with both Artur Beterbiev and Anthony Yarde. Johnson, who during his day was regarded as a feared puncher, traded big shots with Beterbiev in 2018. During the second round, Johnson scored a rare knockdown of Beterbiev and had the Russian puncher rocked. Beterbiev recovered by the following round and eventually knocked Johnson out in the fourth.
