Caleb Plant has managed to remain unbeaten and off the canvas through more than seven years as a pro. Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has every intention of removing both of those claims upon the conclusion of their forthcoming undisputed super middleweight championship showdown.
Unbeaten two-time world champion David “El Bandera Roja” Benavidez is a few weeks away from returning to the ring in his hometown of Phoenix, Ariz. on Saturday, November 13 live on Showtime from Footprint Center.
Canelo Alvarez was perturbed with Caleb Plant after his counterpart cursed at him during a September introductory press conference in Los Angeles while promoting their Nov. 6 Showtime PPV fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Callum Smith deemed the recent press conference exchange between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant as a microcosm of what makes the Mexican icon boxing’s best fighter, pound-for-pound.
Nobody can ever tell Caleb Plant what he can and can’t do. That includes, but is not limited to his chances heading into by far the biggest fight of his pro career. Plant remains a considerable underdog to prevail over Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (56-1-2, 38KOs) in their undisputed super middleweight champion. BetMGM has the unbeaten Tennessee native—now based out Las Vegas—at +550 while Guadalajara’s Alvarez is -800 to emerge victorious in their November 6 Showtime Pay-Per-View main event from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Andre Ward appears to believe that Caleb Plant will need to do more than simply try to outbox Canelo Alvarez in order to win their undisputed super middleweight title bout.
