Caleb Plant: record, next fight and profile →
Anthony Dirrell has always come across as a stoic figure. But after months of hammering out a deal behind the scenes that will see him take on Caleb Plant in the chief supporting role to Deontay Wilder’s ring return against Robert Helenius on October 15th, the former super middleweight titlist was all smiles.
Former WBC Heavyweight World Champion and boxing superstar Deontay "The Bronze Bomber'' Wilder will take on top-rated Robert “The Nordic Nightmare” Helenius in an explosive 12-round WBC Heavyweight Title Eliminator between ferocious punchers in the main event of a FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View Saturday, Oct. 15 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in a Premier Boxing Champions event.
Caleb Plant’s confidence is still sky-high despite suffering his first career defeat the last time he competed in a fight against Canelo Alvarez in November.
Caleb Plant became a super middleweight world champion when he upset Jose Uzcategui in 2019. After defending his IBF title against inferior opponents like Mike Lee, Vincent Feigenbutz, and Caleb Truax, Plant fell short when he stepped up his competition to the world-class level against Canelo Alvarez in November.
Caleb Plant, David Benavidez, and Jermall Charlo have been going at one another for years with a war of words but have nothing to show for it in the ring.
Jermall Charlo’s next defense of the WBC middleweight crown was scheduled for June 18 against Maciej Sulecki in a homecoming fight in Houston on Showtime Championship Boxing - but earlier this week the fight was officially postponed due to Charlo suffering a back injury in camp.
David Benavidez is confident that at least one name from his current wishlist will wind up in the opposite corner for his next fight. It’s a list that includes secondary WBA super middleweight titlist David Morrell (6-0, 5KOs), former IBF titleholder Caleb Plant (21-1, 12KOs) and WBC middleweight beltholder Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22KOs). All fight under the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) banner, which—in theory—should produce at least one makeable matchup.
GLENDALE, Arizona – David Benavidez is ready to meet the biggest names within his reach in the super middleweight division. The unbeaten 25-year-old has all but moved on from the thought of facing undisputed super middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (57-2-2, 39KOs), even though he is the WBC mandatory challenger and interim titlist.

Caleb Plant is willing to take Canelo Alvarez up on his earnest request, as long as that means he can get another crack at the Mexican superstar.
