Triple WBA World Title Rumble in "KO To Drugs" Festival in Panama

PANAMA CITY, Panama -- Three WBA world title fights are featured in this year's "WBA KO to Drugs" festival, the association's annual boxing show aimed at entertaining fight fans while keeping drugs away from sports and society. During the event's presentation presser, the WBA President Gilberto Jesús Mendoza confirmed that the much awaited world title card will take place Friday, February 7, at the Roberto Duran Arena here in Panama City, Panama.

In the telecast opener, Eduardo Ramirez (22-1-3, 9 KOs) caught Bryan De Gracia (24-2-1, 20 KOs) with a vicious right uppercut in the ninth, stunning his opponent and suddenly breaking open a close fight. Ramirez pounced on the dazed De Gracia and unleashed a wave of punches which forced referee Benjy Esteves to call the fight at 2:10 of round nine.

NEW YORK – Bryan De Gracia was the supposed puncher in his featherweight fight against Eduardo Ramirez. It was Ramirez, however, that scored a knockout Saturday night and earned a 126-pound title shot. Ramirez rocked De Gracia with a right hook and a right uppercut around the midway point of the ninth round, unleashed a barrage of power punches on his stunned opponent and prompted referee Benjy Esteves to halt their scheduled 12-round WBA elimination match.
