Italian great Tommaso Galli has passed away at the age of 83. Galli won the EBU title in three different weight divisions beginning at bantamweight in 1965 when he beat Mimoun Ben Ali. He lost the title in a rematch but in between he outscored Walter McGowan. In 1969 he stopped Spaniard Manuel Calvo in the 15th and final round to win the EBU featherweight title and also beat Calvo in a rematch before losing to the great Jose Legra. In 1971 he won the EBU super feather title with a points win over German Lothar Abend. He lost the title to Domenico Chiorio in 1972 and retired with a record of 38-9-4.
